Engineering Drafter II Ducommun Inc. - 3.1 Carson, CA Job Details $30 - $40 an hour 20 hours ago Qualifications Mechanical blueprint interpretation 3D modeling software High school diploma or GED Cross-functional communication Full Job Description Designer II (Engineering Drafter II) The Engineering Drafter supports Engineering design team by executing simple ECO for drawing updates, documentation updates, simple 3D modeling and 2D creation. Position is responsible for obsolescence and change of supplier validation, running testing and preparing technical report for engineering to validate. This position requires design skills, attention to detail and the ability to follow technical instructions under Engineering guidance. When Engineering workload is low, the technician may support build of engineering prototypes and testing. This role reports to the Design Engineering leader. Who are we? We specialize in electronic and structural systems, producing complex products and components for commercial aircraft platforms, mission-critical military and space programs, and sophisticated industrial applications. Our Performance Center in Carson, CA is the Engineered Products Group site for our Human Machine Interface, Motion Control Device, and Radio Frequency (RF) product lines. Job Summary Create and modify 2D drawings and 3D CAD models of mechanical components using SolidWorks. Prepare detailed manufacturing drawings with dimensions, tolerances, notes, and specifications. Update existing drawings and CAD models based on engineering changes. Create parts, assemblies, and basic layouts in SolidWorks. Apply basic GD&T and drafting standards as directed by engineering. Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and consistency. Work with engineers to incorporate design changes and revisions. Support the preparation and maintenance of Bills of Materials (BOMs). Organize and maintain CAD files, drawings, and engineering documentation. Work with manufacturing personnel to clarify drawing and design requirements. Assist with prototype and production documentation. Follow company drafting procedures, quality requirements, and revision-control processes. Maintain weekly progress reporting (Project Management and project timesheet) Support facility and corporate strategic goals Adhere to General Requirements of Team Members Perform other assignments as required Required Skills and Qualifications Ability to interpret engineering specifications and technical drawings. Basic to intermediate knowledge of SolidWorks or similar CAD software. Ability to work from sketches, measurements, specifications, and engineering instructions. Good communication and cross-functional collaboration skills. Abilities listed in General Requirements of Team Members Good attention to detail and accuracy. Experience designing or drafting mechanical parts and assemblies preferred Familiarity with GD&T preferred Experience with machining, sheet metal, fabrication, or other manufacturing processes preferred Familiarity with PLM/PDM systems is a plus. Required Experience and Education High school diploma or equivalent required. 3-5 years of experience in CAD, drafting, mechanical design, or related work preferred.
