Job Description

Position Overview The Junior CAD Drafter will support the design, engineering, and production workflow for custom cabinetry projects. This role is ideal for someone with entry-level CAD experience, strong computer skills, and interest in woodworking, construction, or fabrication. You will receive training in CabnetWare and our internal processes, with the opportunity to take ownership over drawings, cutlists, and production documents as you grow. This is an excellent long-term position for someone who wants to advance into cabinet engineering, estimating, and project coordination. Key Responsibilities Drafting & Engineering Support Create and update shop drawings using CabnetWare (training provided). Prepare elevation drawings, plan views, and detailed cabinet section drawings. Translate field measurements into accurate cabinet drawings. Assist in generating cutlists, material lists, and hardware schedules. Estimating & Project Documentation Prepare takeoffs and assist in job estimating for custom cabinetry projects. Help maintain pricing spreadsheets, bid templates, and estimating tools. Organize and maintain project files, drawings, revisions, and documentation. Procurement & Production Support Generate and submit orders for: Doors (e.g., paint-grade, rift white oak, specialty profiles) Drawer boxes (dovetail, prefinished materials, etc.) Cabinet hardware and accessories Support shop floor with production documents, labels, printouts, and updates. Assist with creating and maintaining standard operating procedures (SOPs). General Office & Workflow Assistance Track project progress and communicate with the fabrication team. Help maintain organized digital files and physical job folders. Support the owner with CAD revisions, estimating tasks, and workflow management. Required Skills & Qualifications Basic proficiency in CAD drafting (AutoCAD, SketchUp, Fusion, or similar). Strong general computer skills, including Excel and PDF markup tools. Good spatial reasoning and an eye for detail. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks. Willingness to learn specialized cabinet engineering software (CabnetWare). Positive attitude, reliability, and ability to follow and document procedures. Preferred but Not Required Experience in cabinetry, millwork, woodworking, or construction. Familiarity with reading architectural plans or construction drawings. Experience with purchasing, estimating, or project coordination. Interest in growing into a cabinet engineer or project manager.
