The role blends artistic skills with technical knowledge to design materials that enhance the overall aesthetic and functionality of products, structures, or visual presentations. The designer will collaborate with project teams to understand design requirements, research and select materials based on properties and aesthetic qualities, and utilize design software to create and refine concepts. Responsibilities include developing prototypes, working with color and texture specialists, and integrating materials seamlessly into overall designs while considering form, function, and manufacturing processes. The role requires staying informed about sustainable materials, conducting performance tests, maintaining detailed documentation, and collaborating with suppliers to ensure quality and design standards are met. Education and Experience:

Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 5 years of directly relevant work experience. (Alternative combinations: PhD or Law + 3 yrs; Masters + 4 yrs; Associates degree + 6 yrs; High School + 7 yrs.) Preferred background: Candidates who have worked at both a major athletic brand (e.g., GEL) and a fast-fashion company (e.g., Skims, Revolve, Alo) or in a start-up environment are highly desirable.
