From intricate interior signage packages and civic wayfinding to massive custom monument signs, our team combines design precision with hands-on technical craftsmanship. We are looking for an enthusiastic, detail-oriented Junior Sign Designer to join our fast-paced design team. What You'll Do Technical Shop Drawings:
Translate design concepts, client briefs, and brand standards into clean vector production files and structured technical shop drawings for architectural signage.
Environmental & Architectural Graphics:
Assist in designing interior/exterior signage packages, wayfinding systems, custom monument signage, and vinyl/graphics applications.
Vector & Asset Preparation:
Prepare and organize production-ready vector assets (preparing cut files, cleaning vector art, organizing layers) for CNC routing, laser cutting, and UV flatbed printing.
Code & Compliance Learning:
Collaborate with experienced team members to learn and apply local municipal sign codes, structural mounting specifications, and ADA braille/signage standards.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work alongside project managers, sales teams, and in-house fabrication leads to ensure designs align with production capabilities, budgets, and project schedules.
What We're Looking For Education & Experience:
Degree or diploma in Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Visual Communications, or equivalent practical experience / strong design portfolio.
Core Software Skills:
Proficiency in vector design software (Adobe Illustrator required). Familiarity or interest in 3D CAD modeling software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, or SolidWorks) is a plus.
Foundational Fabrication & Material Awareness:
General interest in or exposure to sign industry materials (acrylic, aluminum, metals, LEDs) and basic production/printing techniques (UV flatbed printing, clear coats, paint finishes). Lighting & Electrical Concepts (Eager to Learn): o
Illuminated Assemblies & Power Systems:
Basic understanding or willingness to learn low-voltage LED lighting systems, driver/power supply configurations, and custom sign enclosure integration. o
Codes, Compliance & Safety:
General awareness of electric sign standards and electrical safety codes and weatherproofing considerations.
Code & Spatial Literacy:
Interest in learning ADA signage guidelines, municipal sign codes, structural mounting details, and architectural plan reading.
Detail & Problem Solving:
Solid grasp of typography, layout, scale, and spatial relationships, with an eagerness to balance aesthetics with physical design constraints.
