Job Description
Job Summary:
The Engineering - CAD Technician will support engineering and field activities by preparing, revising, and correcting maps, construction drawings, graphs, designs, records, and charts using basic GIS and CAD tools. The role requires basic drafting capabilities and experience creating electrical drawings and GIS/CAD designs using tools such as MicroStation and AutoCAD. This position is primarily field-based and requires the ability to work outside of a traditional desk environment.Key Responsibilities:
- Perform basic GIS and CAD design activities in support of engineering projects.
- Prepare, revise, and correct maps, construction drawings, graphs, designs, records, and charts using GIS/CAD tools.
- Prepare preliminary, final, and as-built electrical drawings.
- Create maps and drawings using GIS, MicroStation, and AutoCAD.
- Apply basic drafting and CAD techniques to support engineering and field requirements.
- Operate plotters and scanners as required for drafting and documentation activities.
- Support field-based engineering activities and complete assignments outside of a traditional office environment.
- Maintain accurate drawings, maps, records, and related documentation.
- Operate a Client's vehicle when required for field activities.
Required Qualifications:
- Basic experience with GIS and CAD design.
- Basic knowledge of drafting, GIS/CAD design, and creation of maps and drawings.
- Experience using GIS, MicroStation, and AutoCAD.
- Ability to prepare preliminary, final, and as-built electrical drawings.
- Basic knowledge of CAD techniques and drafting practices.
- Ability to use plotters and scanners.
- Ability to work primarily in the field rather than behind a desk.
- Ability to drive a Client's vehicle as required for the position.
