Position Summary CRA is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable CAD Drafter
  • Engineering & LiDAR Layout s to join our Engineering and Drafting team.
This position will primarily support the production of LiDAR-based project layouts as scan volume continues to increase. The Drafter will also assist with standard engineering drawings, permit drawing revisions, and other drafting assignments based on departmental workload and business needs. The specific responsibilities and training plan may be adjusted based on the selected candidate's experience. Candidates with strong foundational drafting skills and the ability to learn CRA's systems and design standards are encouraged to apply.
Primary Responsibilities Responsibilities may include:
Review LiDAR scan data and related project information to produce accurate project layouts. Create and revise CAD drawings for aluminum structures and other CRA products. Prepare standard engineering and permit drawings using established company templates and design standards. Support the drafting queue by completing drawing revisions, corrections, and updates. Interpret field measurements, LiDAR information, architectural plans, blueprints, sketches, photographs, and project specifications. Analyze project information to identify missing, unclear, or conflicting details before drawings are finalized. Coordinate with Engineering, Operations, Sales, Production, Permitting, and field personnel to clarify project requirements. Maintain accurate drawing files, revision records, and project documentation. Follow CRA drafting standards, engineering requirements, naming conventions, and quality-control processes. Cross-train on multiple types of engineering drawings and layouts to provide additional departmental coverage. Manage multiple projects and priorities while meeting established deadlines. Participate in process improvements related to drafting, LiDAR production, templates, technology, and workflow efficiency. Perform other drafting and engineering-support responsibilities as business needs evolve. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical training, certification, or associate degree in drafting, CAD, engineering technology, architecture, construction, or a related field preferred. Previous experience using AutoCAD or similar CAD software required. Experience preparing construction, architectural, structural, engineering, or permit drawings preferred. Experience working with LiDAR data, point clouds, scan-based layouts, or reality-capture technology is preferred but not required. Experience with aluminum construction, screen enclosures, structural components, or Florida permitting requirements is a plus. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, architectural plans, field measurements, and technical specifications. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and general computer file-management practices. SolidWorks experience is a plus but not required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong attention to detail and commitment to drawing accuracy. Ability to learn and consistently apply company drafting and design standards. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to identify discrepancies and ask appropriate follow-up questions. Strong problem-solving and basic mathematical skills. Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team. Dependable, accountable, and receptive to training and feedback. Reporting and Collaboration This position reports to the designated Engineering and Drafting leader and works closely with members of Engineering, Drafting, Operations, Production, Permitting, Sales, and field teams.
