Computer Aided Design (CAD) Draftsperson Blairsville, Georgia Design Innovative Structures That Shape Industries Across North America Our client is a leading American manufacturer of prefabricated modular construction systems and structural steel solutions. The company has specialized in designing and manufacturing custom modular offices, mezzanines, equipment platforms, cleanrooms, security buildings, guard booths, exterior structures, and solar canopy systems serving industrial, commercial, government, military, and manufacturing clients throughout North America. As a GSA Contract Holder, the company delivers specialized engineered structures for Fortune 500 organizations, government agencies, military installations, distribution centers, warehouses, and advanced manufacturing facilities. Their reputation is built on solving complex space and structural challenges through innovative engineering, quality craftsmanship, and custom fabrication. Due to continued growth, we are seeking a highly motivated Computer Aided Design (CAD) Draftsperson to join the Engineering Department and support the design and development of custom modular building systems and structural steel projects. Position Summary The CAD Draftsperson will play a vital role in supporting engineering projects by creating, revising, and maintaining detailed technical drawings and project documentation. This position works closely with engineers, project managers, manufacturing teams, and customers to develop accurate, production-ready drawings for custom-engineered structures. This is an excellent opportunity for a drafting professional who enjoys seeing projects progress from concept and design through fabrication and installation. Key ResponsibilitiesDesign & Drafting Create, revise, and maintain detailed CAD drawings for custom engineering and construction projects. Develop fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, installation drawings, and customer approval drawings. Convert sketches, engineering concepts, specifications, and project requirements into accurate technical drawings. Prepare detailed layouts, elevations, sections, and structural component drawings. Incorporate engineering revisions and customer-requested modifications into project drawings. Engineering Documentation Develop complete drawing packages for manufacturing, installation, and customer approval. Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs). Prepare material specifications and supporting engineering documentation. Organize and maintain project files, drawing revisions, and engineering records. Ensure documentation accuracy and compliance with project requirements. Project & Customer Support Collaborate with engineers, project managers, production teams, vendors, and customers throughout project execution. Provide technical support and drafting assistance during manufacturing and installation phases. Create detailed installation drawings and instructions for field personnel. Assist with project-specific permitting research and documentation requirements. Participate in design reviews and project meetings. Field Support Conduct occasional site visits and field verification activities as needed. Provide on-site customer support when engineering or drafting expertise is required. Travel periodically to customer locations and project sites. Required Qualifications Associate Degree in CAD, Drafting Technology, Engineering Technology, Architectural Drafting, Mechanical Design, or a related technical field. Minimum 2 years of professional CAD drafting experience in manufacturing, construction, structural steel, modular construction, architectural drafting, or a related industry. Strong knowledge of drafting standards, engineering drawings, and technical documentation. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, fabrication drawings, blueprints, and engineering specifications. Experience creating detailed technical drawings from sketches and design concepts. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment. Valid Driver's License. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with modular buildings, structural steel, industrial facilities, or custom-engineered products. Familiarity with fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, and construction documentation. Experience creating and managing Bills of Materials (BOMs). Understanding of manufacturing processes and construction methods. Experience supporting engineering teams in a fast-paced project environment.
