Job Overview Dose Steelworks, a family-owned company, is seeking a detail-oriented CNC Laser Nester/Drafter. This position will sit on the design team and will support our manufacturing operations by preparing and optimizing jobs for CNC tube and plate lasers. This position is responsible for creating efficient and accurate cutting layouts, maximizing material utilization, and ensuring production readiness. Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities Create and optimize CNC cutting programs for tube laser and plate lasers. Nest parts efficiently to maximize material utilization and minimize waste. Review drawings, cut lists, and job requirement to ensure programs meet specifications. Verify material type, thickness, dimension, and quantities before releasing to production floor. Select appropriate cutting parameters and tooling based on material and part requirements. Make adjustments to programs as needed to improve cut quality, efficiency, and material usage. Organize nests and prioritize jobs based on production schedules, staffing, and materials. Work closely with manufacturing, design, and other departments to resolve programming or manufacturing issues. Review completed nests and programs for accuracy before being sent to production. Maintain organized CNC nest and program files and ensure correct revisions are being used. Identify opportunities to reduce scrap, improve cycle times, and increase machine efficiency. Support drafting through the creation and revision of accurate 2D drawings and 3D models of trailer design with technical specifications through the utilization of CAD Software. Assist in the generation of comprehensive documentation that encompasses technical design diagrams and specifications, work/assembly instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and process flows. Follow all company safety policies and procedures. All other duties as assigned. Qualifications/Requirements Associate's degree in mechanical design, engineering & design technology, or related field or relevant experience preferred Previous experience with CNC laser programming, nesting, or manufacturing preferred. Experience with CAD software and nesting software (Solidworks and SigmaNest preferred). Ability to read and interpret design drawing and blueprints. Experience with tube and sheet metal a plus. Strong understanding of dimensions, tolerances, BOM creation. Analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects at one time with close attention to detail. Ability to lift up to 50lbs. Manufacturing, fabrication, CNC, design, or steel industry experience is preferred. Pass pre-employment drug screen. Work Conditions Base schedule is Monday - Friday 7am - 4:30pm. Time will be spent about 50/50 between a typical office setting and R&D/manufacturing floor.
