Job Description

The Structural Drafter prepares accurate and detailed construction drawings for structural building systems using AutoCAD, Revit, BIM systems. Working closely with structural engineers, project managers, architects, and other design professionals, this position converts engineering calculations and design concepts into technical drawings used for permitting, fabrication, and construction. The Structural Drafter helps ensure projects are completed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with applicable building codes, company standards, and client requirements. Essential Functions Prepare detailed structural drawings for commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential projects. Develop structural plans, elevations, sections, details, schedules, and construction documents from engineer sketches, markups, calculations, and design criteria. Revise drawings based on engineer and client comments throughout the design process. Coordinate structural drawings with architectural, civil, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing disciplines to minimize conflicts. Produce foundation plans, framing plans, connection details, reinforcing details, and other structural documentation as required. Ensure drawings comply with applicable building codes, project specifications, drafting standards, and company quality requirements. Maintain drawing files, project documentation, and revision histories. Perform quality control reviews to identify drafting errors, inconsistencies, and constructability concerns. Assist engineers with quantity takeoffs, document preparation, and project coordination. Participate in project meetings and coordinate drawing updates with internal teams. Organize electronic project files according to company standards. Support multiple projects while meeting established deadlines and production schedules. Continuously improve drafting efficiency through standardization and best practices. Perform other related duties as assigned.
