Job Description
The Opportunity FoldX Technologies designs factory-built modular housing for residential and commercial markets. We areseeking a skilled CAD Designer to prepare the drawings, 3D models, and supporting design files used to developnew FoldX units. This is a hands-on, in-office role supporting products from early concept through engineering, prototyping, manufacturing, and construction. You will work closely with our architects, engineers, product developers, and manufacturing team to turn ideas and technical requirements into accurate, organized, production-ready files. A new kind of design challenge. FoldX buildings use steel framing, structural insulated panels, prefabricated assemblies, and proprietary folding and hinging technologies. You will model how components fit, move, connect, ship, unfold, and assemble. Modular experience is valuable but not required; precision, curiosity, and strong CAD fundamentals are essential. Key Responsibilities Prepare accurate 2D CAD drawings and detailed 3D models for new residential and commercial FoldX units. Develop floor plans, elevations, sections, assemblies, component details, schedules, and supporting technical files. Incorporate architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and manufacturing requirements into coordinated models. Translate sketches, markups, calculations, specifications, and design direction into clear production-quality drawings. Create part, assembly, fabrication, shop, and installation drawings for prototypes and production units. Maintain model accuracy, drawing standards, file naming, revision control, and organized project records. Update models and drawings quickly as designs are tested, engineered, reviewed, and refined. Check dimensions, interfaces, tolerances, clearances, and drawing consistency before files are released. Collaborate daily with architects, engineers, product designers, fabricators, and manufacturing personnel. Develop reusable component libraries, templates, details, blocks, families, and modeling standards. Review prototypes and factory processes, then apply lessons learned to future models and drawing packages. Required Qualifications Professional experience producing accurate CAD drawings and 3D models for buildings, products, or manufactured assemblies. Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and strong capability in at least one professional 3D modeling or BIM platform. Ability to develop drawings independently from sketches, redlines, specifications, and verbal design direction. Strong understanding of construction documents, dimensions, sections, details, assemblies, and drawing conventions. Experience modeling components and assemblies with attention to fit, tolerances, interfaces, and constructability. Ability to coordinate architectural, engineering, MEP, manufacturing, and supplier information in one model set. Strong computer skills and the ability to learn new CAD, BIM, product-lifecycle, and document-control systems. Strong technical drawing, visualization, organization, quality-control, and communication skills. Willingness to work full-time and in person at FoldX's Meridian office. Preferred Qualifications Associate or bachelor's degree in drafting, CAD technology, architecture, engineering technology, industrial design, or a related field. Experience with Revit, SolidWorks, Inventor, Fusion 360, Tekla, Rhino, or comparable software. Experience with modular, factory-built, panelized, manufactured, or industrialized construction. Experience creating fabrication drawings, shop drawings, bills of materials, or repeatable product documentation. Familiarity with steel framing, structural insulated panels, building envelopes, mechanical systems, or design for manufacturing. Experience supporting architects, engineers, manufacturers, contractors, or field-installation teams. Why Join FoldX? At FoldX, you will help develop and continuously improve a family of building products. You will see your models progress from early concepts to engineered assemblies, factory production, and completed homes and commercial buildings. You will work directly with decision-makers and have meaningful influence over how FoldX products are documented and manufactured. As the company grows, this position may expand into a senior design, BIM, product-development, or CAD-team leadership role. A Compelling Total Compensation Package Highly competitive base salary Performance-based bonuses Strong health and employee benefits Paid time off and company holidays Training, continuing education, and professional-development support Equity opportunities for qualified candidates Significant professional growth and leadership potential
