Job Description

Overview Casework Solutions is seeking an experienced CAD Designer / Millwork Drafter to convert architectural plans and specifications into detailed shop drawings, production drawings, and CNC-ready manufacturing data for custom commercial architectural millwork and casework projects. This position plays a key role in bridging the gap between design intent and manufacturing by coordinating with project managers, estimators, production personnel, and installers to ensure projects are accurately detailed and efficiently produced. The ideal candidate has experience in architectural millwork, cabinetry, woodworking, or commercial construction and is proficient with AutoCAD, imos iX, Microvellum, Cabinet Vision, or similar platforms. Duties Review architectural drawings, specifications, and project requirements. Create detailed shop drawings for commercial millwork, cabinetry, and casework projects. Generate CNC machining programs and production-ready manufacturing data. Develop bills of materials, cut lists, and hardware schedules. Coordinate with project managers, architects, and manufacturing personnel to resolve design and constructability issues. Revise drawings based on field measurements, submittal reviews, RFIs, and customer feedback. Ensure drawings comply with AWI standards, project specifications, and company quality requirements. Support production and installation teams during project execution. Maintain organized drawing files and project documentation. Continuously improve drafting standards, workflows, and manufacturing efficiency. Experience Minimum 1 year of experience in CAD drafting, millwork detailing, cabinetry design, or related field. Proficiency in AutoCAD, imos iX, Microvellum, Cabinet Vision, or similar CAD/CAM software. Ability to interpret architectural plans, elevations, sections, and specifications. Experience producing detailed shop drawings for custom casework or architectural millwork. Strong understanding of drafting practices, dimensioning, and construction documentation. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Strong communication and problem-solving abilities. Preferred Qualifications Experience in commercial architectural millwork manufacturing. Knowledge of CNC machining principles and manufacturing processes. Background in woodworking, cabinetry, or custom fabrication. Experience in commercial construction or construction project coordination. Familiarity with AWI standards and quality requirements. Experience with 3D modeling and parametric design systems. Understanding of hardware applications, materials, veneers, laminates, and specialty finishes. Education Associate degree in Drafting, Design Technology, Architecture, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or equivalent experience preferred. Relevant industry experience may be substituted for formal education. $28.00 - $38.50 per hour
