As a Fiber Designer, Drafter or GIS Specialist, you will be responsible for creating and modifying construction drawing packages that will be used for zoning, permitting and construction of fiber network buildouts. The candidate will design, draft and document aerial and underground fiber networks using AutoCAD, 3-GIS, ESRI and other GIS mapping software. Additional responsibilities include creating standard A&E drawings and notes, providing document control and quality assurance where applicable.

DESIGN RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare fiber optic design drawings and become proficient using ESRI, 3-GIS, AutoCAD and other design software.
• Drafts fiber network designs and maintains accurate records of fiber routes, facilities, and field assets within project-specific design and mapping applications.
• Create all necessary splicing prints and work orders for performing splicing work within the active backbone.
• Gain proficiency in project QA tools and resolution of QA errors, as required.
• Incorporates quality feedback into daily production processes to ensure high-quality work output.
• Interfaces with team leads as required to ensure consistency in project specifications, standards, procedures, and design techniques.
• Maintain project drawing files, drawing library, and associated records and documentation per company policies.
• Meets all project production targets and quality expectations within (90) days of hire and on an ongoing basis.
• Extensive knowledge of aerial and underground for both long and short haul fiber networks.
• Review field notes, photographs, measurements, utility information, and existing infrastructure records.
• Attend team and departmental meetings, as required.
• Perform administrative work relating to projects and assignments.
• Oral communication skills; upward communications.
• Attention to detail, quality work products, and client service.

Job Requirements:

• 1-3 years in telecommunication industry experience preferred but not required.
• Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Proficient with Auto

CAD, ESRI

(ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Field Maps), 3GIS, Katapult Pro, and/or similar design and GIS software.

• Experience developing, maintaining and analyzing geospatial datasets, databases, shapefiles, etc.
• Previous telecommunications engineering and design experience.
• Experience supporting long-haul fiber, FTTX, backbone fiber, or broadband deployment projects.

Pay:

$24.00 - $32.00 per hour
