JOB DESCRIPTION
The Structural Designer develops detailed structural models and drawings of marine buildings, structural skids, platforms, equipment and lift rigging. This role ensures total compliance with engineering design, technical specifications and work order instructions. Additional duties include clash checking, preparation of Bills of Materials (BOM) as well as coordination with fabrication personnel, cross discipline subcontractors, and the engineering team.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Create detailed 3D models and 2D structural fabrication drawings, and technical documentation using CAD software.
Equipment Integration:
Design and locate building wall and floor penetrations as well as mounting structures for electrical and HVAC systems, specialized exterior doors and windows. Calculate total estimated building or structural skid weights and precise structural centers of gravity (CG). Collaborate with clients, project managers, and design engineers to understand project requirements and deliver effective solutions. Ensure all designs meet project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. Participate in all phases of the project from conceptual layouts to detailed design and final installation. Provide rapid drafting adjustments, technical support and guidance throughout the fabrication process.
QUALIFICATIONS
Associate's degree, technical diploma, or equivalent experience in design/drafting, engineering technology or related technical field. Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, Revit etc.). SolidWorks experience preferred. Strong understanding of structural design principles, materials, weldment/connection details and fabrication processes. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. Pay:
$25.00 - $45.00 per hour
