Job Description

Mechanical Designer (SolidWorks) Konik - Saint Paul, MN, United States Mechanical Drafter New Brighton, MN | 6-Month Contract | $35.00-$45.00/hr Konik is partnering with a growing manufacturing organization seeking to add a Mechanical Drafter to support their production and manufacturing engineering teams. This role focuses on maintaining and updating engineering documentation, supporting design changes, and ensuring drawings accurately reflect current manufacturing processes. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working closely with both engineering and the shop floor, contributing to real-world product builds and continuous improvement efforts. Mechanical Drafter Responsibilities Update and maintain SolidWorks drawings based on redlines and engineering revisions Draft new parts, fixtures, and tooling with guidance from Manufacturing Engineering Process Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and release updated drawings for production Support a backlog of drawing updates and revisions to ensure accuracy and consistency Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve design discrepancies and clarify build requirements Create detailed 2D drawings from 3D models, ensuring alignment with manufacturing capabilities Apply GD&T, dimensions, tolerances, and material specifications to support functional requirements Ensure all drawings meet internal standards and industry best practices Mechanical Drafter Qualifications 2+ years of drafting or design experience within a manufacturing environment Proficiency with SolidWorks (3D modeling and 2D drawing creation) Experience working with engineering drawings, redlines, and revision control processes Familiarity with GD&T and manufacturing tolerances Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple updates and priorities Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering and production teams Experience supporting ECN processes preferred Additional Role Details Highly collaborative role working between engineering and production teams Mix of drawing updates, new drafting work, and process-driven documentation Opportunity to support continuous improvement within manufacturing systems Fast-paced environment with strong visibility across teams
