Job Description

Fritz Millwork is seeking a Drafting Engineer to transform architectural drawings and approved designs into accurate, production-ready cabinetry and millwork. This role serves as the bridge between design and manufacturing, creating detailed Mosaic models, shop drawings, material requirements, and CNC-ready files that drive efficient, high-quality production. The Drafting Engineer is also our internal expert on Mosaic and Screen-to-Machine (S2M) workflows, helping maintain engineering standards and continuously improve how projects move from concept to fabrication. Key Accountabilities Engineering & Production Documentation Build production-ready cabinet and millwork projects in Mosaic. Translate architectural drawings and design intent into accurate cabinet models. Create shop drawings, elevations, sections, and construction details. Generate cut lists, BOMs, material requirements, and hardware reports. Create and verify CNC machining and nesting files. Ensure Mosaic output is accurate and ready for production. Engineer custom solutions that balance design intent, quality, and manufacturability. Quality & Process Management Release complete engineering packages to production for accurate fabrication. Verify dimensions, materials, hardware, construction details, and machining requirements, as well as overall adherence of Fritz standards. Confirm Mosaic models, drawings, reports, and CNC files are aligned and accurate. Maintain project revisions and current production documentation. Identify and resolve errors before they impact fabrication. Maintain Mosaic libraries, materials, hardware, and construction standards. Upload and distribute updated documents to the correct project folders promptly. Collaboration & Project Support Coordinate with designers, architects, project managers, and production teams to gather project information before drawing begins. Attend design reviews and provide input on buildability, joinery methods, material selection, and hardware. Visit job sites to field measurements and verification; update drawings quickly when field conditions differ from the plan. Recommend fabrication improvements that preserve design quality while reducing cost, labor, or complexity. Communicate effectively with production staff, installers, and project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications:
3+ years of cabinet engineering, drafting, or millwork engineering experience. Strong proficiency with Mosaic. Experience creating CNC-ready manufacturing output. Knowledge of Screen-to-Machine (S2M) or similar CNC workflows. Strong understanding of custom cabinetry construction, materials, hardware, and joinery. Ability to read and interpret architectural, construction, and millwork drawings. Experience generating cut lists, bills of materials, CNC files, and machining reports. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet production deadlines. Preferred Attributes Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Ability to think like both an engineer and a cabinetmaker. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating across teams. Comfortable explaining technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Success in This Role Produce highly accurate drawings and manufacturing data with minimal revisions. Consistently release complete engineering packages on schedule. Reduce production rework through proactive problem-solving and attention to detail. Improve engineering standards, workflow efficiency, and overall production readiness. Maintain compliance with project specifications and internal quality standards.
