Job Description

Position Summary The Drafter I is an entry-level position supporting the engineering team with basic drafting, design updates, and project documentation for FTTH and Outside Plant projects. This role is a good fit for someone who is detail-oriented, learns quickly, can solve problems in real time, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced construction or engineering environment. Previous telecom drafting experience is helpful but not required. Candidates should have a general understanding of construction and be comfortable learning new software, processes, and technical information. Key Responsibilities Create and update basic design drawings using redlines, sketches, field information, and engineer instructions. Review information carefully and accurately transfer changes into project drawings and files. Follow established drafting standards, templates, file naming, and version-control procedures. Identify missing or conflicting information and ask appropriate questions to resolve issues. Manage multiple assignments and shifting priorities while maintaining accuracy. Retain project standards, processes, and client-specific requirements as training progresses. Organize project files and maintain accurate documentation throughout each project phase. Communicate with Engineers, Leads, and Supervisors when clarification or additional information is needed. Assist with preparing drawings and project documents for QA/QC and client submission. Learn and use CAD, GIS, and other engineering or construction-related software. Qualifications Entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply. General knowledge of construction, utilities, engineering, or field operations preferred. Strong attention to detail and ability to catch errors or inconsistencies. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think quickly when information is incomplete or changes. Ability to multitask and manage several assignments at once. Ability to learn, retain, and apply new information. Comfortable working with computers and learning new software programs. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to follow detailed instructions while also knowing when to ask questions. Dependable and able to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
