Purpose and Scope of Position The CAD Drafter II is a mid-level design professional responsible for producing accurate, coordinated technical drawings and 3D models using Mountain Studio Design's core software stack, including Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Lumion, and Bluebeam. This role supports the full design lifecycle—from early concept modeling through construction documentation—by translating design intent into detailed, buildable drawing sets. The Drafter II plays a critical role in ensuring drawing accuracy, coordination across disciplines, and adherence to WDS standards, while contributing to visualization and presentation deliverables. Organizational Relationship This position reports to the VP of Corporate Services / Director of Design+Development within WDS and collaborates with External consultants (architects, engineers, civil, MEP, etc.) Duties and Responsibilities Develop detailed architectural drawings using Revit and AutoCAD, including plans, elevations, sections, details, and schedules Assist in the production of SD, DD, and CD drawing sets aligned with project scope and standards Translate sketches, redlines, and design direction into accurate technical documentation Maintain drawing consistency, layering standards, and file organization per MSD protocols Build and maintain 3D models using Revit and SketchUp to support design development Support rendering and visualization efforts using Lumion or similar tools for client presentations and internal reviews Assist in preparing presentation graphics and visual materials Coordinate drawings with internal teams and external consultants (structural, MEP, civil, etc.) Participate in design reviews, coordination meetings, and redline sessions Utilize Bluebeam for markups, revisions, and collaborative review workflows Identify and communicate design conflicts or coordination issues early in the process Perform quality checks to ensure drawing accuracy, completeness, and compliance with MSD standards Assist in maintaining and improving CAD/BIM standards, templates, and libraries Ensure alignment with applicable codes, regulations, and construction practices Support material takeoffs, basic quantity estimates, and design coordination tasks Assist with document control, version tracking, and file management across project phases Help ensure deliverables are completed on time, within scope, and aligned with project goals Escalate issues, risks, or coordination challenges to project leadership as needed Basic Qualifications (i.e., education, certifications, years of experience, etc.) Two-year degree from an accredited university or college in a related field of property Associate's degree or technical certification in Drafting, Architecture, Engineering Technology, or related field (Bachelor's degree preferred) 3-5 years of professional drafting experience in architectural or construction environments Proficiency in Revit (primary BIM platform) and AutoCAD Working knowledge of SketchUp, Lumion (or similar rendering software), and Bluebeam Revu Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, & Personality Characteristics Strong understanding of architectural drafting standards and construction documentation workflows Working knowledge of BIM coordination and model-based design processes Familiarity with building systems, materials, and construction methods Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality deliverables Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines across concurrent projects Strong organizational and digital file management skills Effective communication and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams Ability to interpret and implement design feedback efficiently Self-motivated, reliable, and accountable with a strong work ethic Adaptable and comfortable working within evolving design and technology environments Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are commonly used and must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
