Job Description

Overview Forge Signworks is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Drafting Technician to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is experienced or early in their career and enjoys problem-solving, technical drawing, and bringing custom products from concept to reality. As a Shop Drawing Technician, you will create production-ready shop drawings and technical documentation for a wide variety of custom signage projects, including interior signs, exterior signs, architectural signage, illuminated signs, wayfinding systems, and large-format branding solutions. You'll work closely with our sales, project management, production, and design teams to transform approved concepts into accurate drawings that guide fabrication, permitting, and installation. Whether you already have drafting experience or are looking to build a career in the sign industry, you'll have the opportunity to learn from an experienced team while contributing to exciting projects from concept through installation. Responsibilities Create detailed shop drawings and technical documentation for custom signage projects. Create vector artwork and production files for fabrication equipment and manufacturing processes. Revise shop drawings based on customer, architect, and internal project team feedback throughout the approval process. Interpret architectural drawings, sign programs, and project specifications to ensure accurate documentation. Incorporate basic structural details into shop drawings prior to engineering review when required. Collaborate closely with project managers, sales, designers, and production personnel to ensure drawings are complete, accurate, and manufacturable. Support production by helping troubleshoot drawing or file-related issues when necessary. Maintain organized drawing files, revisions, and project documentation. Support continuous improvement of drafting standards, production processes, and overall efficiency. Qualifications Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. Eagerness to learn new software, manufacturing processes, and technical information. Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to think through how products are built and assembled. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with project managers, sales, production, and design teams. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment. Experience with CorelDRAW, Adobe Illustrator, AutoCAD, or similar design software is a plus, but not required. Previous drafting, CAD, graphic design, architecture, engineering technology, manufacturing, construction, or sign industry experience is a plus, but not required. Familiarity with reading architectural drawings and technical documents is preferred, but not required. Understanding of manufacturing, fabrication, or construction processes is preferred, but not required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, Architecture, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Construction Management, or a related field is a plus, but not required.
