Job Description
We are currently seeking a qualified MicroStation CADD Drafter/Technician to complement our existing team that provides CAD services across our firm. As a member of the CAD Group at CM, you will be exposed to multidiscipline engineering and surveying CAD duties working directly with staff to develop plans, presentation, figures, survey mapping, and proposal graphics. There may also be opportunities to assist in field work such as traffic counts and field surveys for projects. CAD Technician II is a technical CAD position that uses CAD software to assist in the creation of miscellaneous plans for various groups within the firm, as well as the continuous drafting process that goes along with plans from start to final plans. Experienced operators can perform various tasks efficiently, accurately, and with intermittent direction. We are looking for a Bentley MicroStation user familiar with
NYSDOT CADD
standards and exposure to OpenRoads Designer and ProjectWise. Autodesk experience is a plus.Essential Job Functions:
Primary function is to support CAD needs directly with engineering and surveying staff for the following departments: Civil, Highway, Structures, Traffic, and Survey. Perform advanced CAD tasks utilizing MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer). Prepare contract plans from scratch with mark-ups provided by design and survey staff. Observe all CME in-houseNYSDOT CAD
standards. Assist in automating processes and standards through the software. Cutting plans and profiles in OpenRoads Designer. Perform CAD edits following staff red lines. Create graphics and presentation visualizations for projects and marketing. Ability to extract details and sections from 3D models for plan creation. Responsible for basic QA/QC tasks and review of all CAD work. May be requested to assist other groups with field work such as documenting existing conditions, traffic counts, and field survey.Job Requirements:
Associate's degree in Civil Engineering Technology and/or a CAD certificate from an accredited program, or an approved equivalent. Minimum of 1 year of experience preferred or equivalent hands-on educational experience. Continue to develop knowledge and skills by actively participating in company seminars, forums, and industry-related training opportunities, including in-house training and Bentley training programs.Hourly Pay Rate Range:
$25.00 - $32.70 General Characteristics Able to identify inconsistencies in drawings and communicate these issues of concern to his or her supervisor Able to take and follow verbal instruction Minimum Years of Experience 1+ Years of Experience Education Associate Degree from an accredited Technical School Technical Responsibilities Basic 2-D line work and text edits. Plot and create PDF drawings. Perform red-line edits. Follows basic QA/QC procedures. Assist with general office function such as printing and folding drawings Project and Task Management Responsible for personal task management and adherence to deadlines and scope Management Responsibility No Management responsibilities. More independent completion of work assignments Communication Skills Possess basic oral and written communication skills. interacts effectively with other staff.
