We work with general contractors, architects, designers, building owners, and tenants to bring projects from concept through installation. We are looking for a Drafting / Engineering professional to join our team and help bridge the gap between estimating and fabrication. Position Overview The Drafting / Engineering position is responsible for developing accurate, production-ready drawings and digital files for commercial millwork projects. This position is in our design department and will work closely with our estimating, production team, project management, and installation teams to ensure that what is drawn can actually be fabricated and installed efficiently. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys solving problems, understands how things are built, and can take architectural plans, design concepts, and field conditions to turn them into clear, accurate shop drawings and production information. Experience with Microvellum, Cut2D, Mozaik, and SketchUp is highly desirable. Candidates with strong AutoCAD experience and the ability to learn our software platforms will also be considered. Key Responsibilities Create accurate shop drawings for commercial millwork and cabinetry. Develop detailed drawings from architectural plans, specifications, sketches, field measurements, and design concepts. Produce accurate dimensions, elevations, sections, details, material callouts, hardware information, and construction details. Create and modify designs in Mozaik, Microvellum, SketchUp, and Cut2D. Prepare CNC-ready files and assist with CNC programming and production as needed. Coordinate drawings with project managers, estimators, production personnel, installers, architects, and general contractors. Identify potential fabrication or installation issues before production begins. Review and understand the Standard Operating Procedure for design and add to it as needed. Review drawings for accuracy, constructability, material usage, and dimensional consistency. Assist with material optimization and CNC nesting when appropriate. Help develop and maintain Elmwood's drafting standards, templates, libraries, and drawing procedures. Assist the production team in troubleshooting drawing, fabrication, or installation issues. Participate in project meetings and communicate technical information clearly to the team. Maintain organized project files and ensure current drawings are available to production and installation teams. Learn to operate the CNC and understand the full design to cut process. Required Qualifications Experience in architectural millwork, cabinetry, woodworking, construction, manufacturing, or a related field. Experience with at least one professional CAD/design platform. Strong understanding of 2D and 3D drafting principles. Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, elevations, sections, details, and specifications. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to visualize how a two-dimensional drawing will translate into a three-dimensional finished product. Ability to understand dimensions, tolerances, materials, and construction methods. Strong computer skills and willingness to learn new software. Ability to communicate effectively with both office and production personnel. Ability to work independently while also collaborating with a team. Preferred Experience Experience with any of the following is strongly preferred: Microvellum Mozaik Cut2D SketchUp AutoCAD CNC router operation or CNC programming Cabinet or millwork manufacturing Architectural millwork shop drawings Commercial construction Solid surface fabrication Plastic laminate fabrication Field installation or construction experience Material optimization and CNC nesting Understanding of AWI standards and commercial millwork construction CNC Experience CNC experience is a significant plus for this position.

A candidate who understands how to take a drawing from the computer and turn it into an efficient CNC-produced component will be highly valuable to our team. Experience operating, programming, troubleshooting, or creating files for CNC routers is welcomed. Education & Experience A degree in Drafting, Engineering, Architecture, Manufacturing, Construction, or a related field is preferred but not required.

Equivalent professional experience in architectural millwork, cabinetry, CNC manufacturing, or construction will be considered.
