We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced CAD Detailer to join our millwork fabrication team. The CAD Detailer will be responsible for creating accurate shop drawings, production drawings, and CNC-ready documentation for custom architectural millwork and casework. The ideal candidate understands how millwork is designed and fabricated and can translate architectural drawings, specifications, field dimensions, and design concepts into clear, buildable drawings for the shop and installation teams. Responsibilities Responsibilities vary by position but may include: Prepare detailed shop drawings and fabrication drawings for custom architectural millwork, casework, cabinetry, and related components. Review architectural drawings, specifications, elevations, and details to identify project requirements and potential conflicts. Develop accurate plans, elevations, sections, details, and assembly drawings using CAD software. Produce drawings that clearly communicate dimensions, materials, hardware, construction methods, edge details, finishes, and installation requirements. Coordinate drawings with project managers, designers, engineers, architects, general contractors, and other trades as required. Incorporate field measurements and site conditions into fabrication drawings. Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, constructability, and compliance with project specifications before release to production. Revise drawings based on internal review, client/architect comments, field conditions, and production requirements. Work closely with the fabrication and installation teams to resolve construction and detailing issues. Assist with material takeoffs, hardware identification, and production documentation when required. Maintain organized drawing files, revisions, and project documentation. Meet project deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Identify potential fabrication or installation issues early and communicate them to the appropriate team members. Skills 2+ years of CAD detailing experience, preferably in architectural millwork, cabinetry, casework, or woodworking fabrication. Strong proficiency with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or comparable CAD software. Ability to read and interpret architectural plans, elevations, sections, and construction details. Solid understanding of millwork construction, materials, hardware, joinery, and fabrication methods. Strong knowledge of dimensions, tolerances, scaling, and drawing standards. Ability to visualize three-dimensional components from two-dimensional drawings. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities. Effective communication and problem-solving skills. Experience working from architectural specifications and project drawings. Additional Preferred Qualifications Experience detailing custom architectural millwork or high-end cabinetry. Experience with CNC manufacturing, CNC programming, or CNC-ready drawings. Knowledge of 3D CAD/BIM software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, Fusion 360, SketchUp, or Revit. Experience with millwork hardware, laminates, veneers, solid surfaces, solid wood, and engineered materials. Familiarity with AWI standards and architectural millwork terminology. Experience coordinating directly with architects, designers, contractors, or field installation teams. Previous experience in a millwork shop or fabrication environment.
