Automated Manufacturing Solutions, Inc. (AMS) is seeking a SolidWorks Mechanical Detailer / Designer to join our engineering team. AMS designs and builds custom industrial automation equipment, including robotic welding systems, assembly equipment, inspection systems, fixtures, and other custom manufacturing solutions. This position is primarily focused on mechanical detailing and creation of manufacturing drawings , with approximately 50-60% of the role dedicated to detailing . The remaining time will include drawing revisions, supporting the shop floor, working with engineers, and designing simpler mechanical components. This is a good opportunity for either an experienced mechanical detailer or a strong entry-level candidate with SolidWorks skills who wants to develop practical machine-design experience. Primary Responsibilities Create detailed manufacturing drawings from SolidWorks models and engineering designs. Detail weld fixtures, machine frames, guarding, robotic cells, brackets, fabricated components, and machine assemblies. Create individual part drawings and assembly drawings used by AMS manufacturing and machine-building personnel. Add dimensions, tolerances, hole callouts, weld information, material specifications, and other information necessary to manufacture components. Develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and drawing documentation as required. Incorporate purchased components into machine and assembly designs. Design simpler mechanical components such as brackets, equipment stands, guarding, mounting plates, and similar items. Make drawing and model revisions resulting from engineering changes or issues discovered during manufacturing and assembly. Work directly with mechanical engineers, machine builders, machinists, welders, and other AMS personnel. Spend time on the shop floor answering questions, providing missing dimensions, explaining design or tolerance requirements, and resolving drawing-related issues. Verify dimensions and fit as necessary during machine assembly. Maintain organized SolidWorks models, assemblies, and drawings throughout a project.

Qualifications Required:

Experience using SolidWorks for 3D modeling and mechanical drawings. Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings. Ability to create clear, accurate manufacturing drawings. Good mechanical aptitude and spatial understanding. Attention to detail and ability to identify missing or conflicting information. Willingness to work directly with shop personnel and resolve issues as equipment is being manufactured and assembled. Ability to manage multiple drawings and projects while maintaining accuracy. AMS is open to both experienced candidates and strong entry-level candidates who demonstrate good SolidWorks skills, mechanical aptitude, and a willingness to learn. Preferred Experience The following experience is beneficial but is not required: Custom machinery or industrial automation. Weld fixtures and tooling. Weldments and fabricated steel structures. Machined components. Sheet metal design. Dimensioning and tolerancing / GD&T. Manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, fabrication, and assembly. Robotic automation equipment.
