Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Drafting Engineer to join our engineering team. This role is integral to the successful design, coordination, and production of custom modular residential projects from concept through fabrication. The Drafting Engineer will be responsible for developing and coordinating comprehensive drawing packages-including schematic designs, production drawing sets, shop drawings, and fabrication details-while collaborating cross-functionally with internal teams and external partners. This position combines technical drafting expertise with problem-solving, innovation, and a strong understanding of modular construction methodologies. Key Responsibilities Prepare and develop 2D/3D shop drawings in accordance with company and industry standards Apply HUD, modular, and commercial project standards across assigned work Collaborate with third-party design and regulatory professionals for project success Maintain accurate records of drawings and project documentation throughout the lifecycle Coordinate with cross-functional teams including Project Management, Procurement, Sales, and Production Prepare material orders and support scheduling within project models Provide design input and recommendations based on client needs Stay updated on industry standards, software trends, and emerging design tools Qualifications & Experience Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience with CAD software Strong understanding of CAD workflows and applications Preferred experience in modular construction or architectural/commercial building practices Background in Architecture, Architectural Drafting, Engineering Technology, Fabrication, or related field Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills Excellent communication and teamwork abilities Ability to manage projects and drive them to completion Technical Skills Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit (required) Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) Familiarity with additional tools such as Navisworks, BIM360, Lumion, Chief Architect, BricsCAD, Tekla, Procore, SolidWorks, and SketchUp is a plus Knowledge of manufacturing processes and modular systems is an advantage What We Offer Competitive compensation Comprehensive health benefits (medical, dental, vision) Life insurance 401(k) with company match Paid time off and holidays Performance-based bonus opportunities (equivalent to an additional $3.50-$5.60/hour) #INDW3
