Drafter/detailer is responsible for using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD software programs to produce detailed drawings of structural steel fabrications, mechanical power transmission arrangements and electrical schematics for steel fabricators, erectors and other clients. As part of your job duties, you will develop 3d models and subsequent drawings from existing drawings and design sketches from the engineering and sales teams. Ability to understand fabrication processes and the ability to professionally discuss design concepts is a necessity. Must be able to communicate with outside vendors and clients as well as maintain a production schedule within the engineering department.

RESPONSIBILITIES 1

) Create detailed shop drawings that are used to communicate and gain approvals with clients, vendors, and contractors. 2) Design and document materials and fabrication approaches within the conditions of the estimate. 3) Be familiar with the shop and field abilities and limitations so as to produce work able to be fabricated and installed. 4) Understand and utilize the standard practices of the structural steel industry. 5) Create and tabulate bill of materials and cut-lists from fabrication drawings. 6) Reproduce/print/copy drawings as needed. 7) Perform all other duties as assigned by the VP Engineering.
