Drafter & Design Engineer (Remote) Automated Wellhead Compression, LLC (AWC) Farmington, NM

• Remote

• Full-Time About the Role AWC designs and manufactures wellhead compression equipment for the oil & gas industry. We're looking for a Drafter & Design Engineer to support — and at times lead — product design and quotation efforts, from initial customer requirements through 3D modeling, P&ID drafting, and final construction documents. This role suits someone with sharp attention to detail, strong documentation habits, and excellent communication skills who thrives in a fast-paced, high-energy environment. What You'll Do New Project Intake (Level I Engineering) Define product requirements through direct communication with customers; keep detailed meeting minutes covering performance requirements and specifications Work with the Project Engineer, AWC management, and vendors to size and select valves, pumps, vessels, motors, compressors, blowers, controls, and instrumentation Coordinate with vendors to confirm pricing, lead times, and product specifications Edit and draft P&IDs per direction from the Project Engineer, ASME engineer, and customer; maintain the P&ID database and naming conventions Build BOMs with line-item detail matched to

IDs Maintain organized project folders (RFQs, performance reports, data sheets, P&IDs, BOMs, 3D models, STEP files, blueprints, and related documents) Study relevant API specifications and customer-provided requirements; escalate any requested deviations to the President Coordinate with electrical consultants and shop managers to finalize cost and lead-time estimates PO Award / Design Execution (Level II Engineering) Build 3D models of approved equipment from the P&ID and BOM, incorporating accurate STEP files for components and structural material Lead or participate in customer 3D model reviews and document meeting minutes Manage redlines and revisions to P&IDs and 3D models within required timelines Participate in internal pre-construction meetings covering scope, performance, specifications, and models Send management weekly progress updates on active drafting projects Coordinate with fabrication, ASME vessel, and assembly teams, and with third-party PEs on structural analysis as needed Pre-Construction & Final Approval Participate in pre-construction and final approval review meetings Ensure controlled documents are properly recorded and stored per AWC policy Create, manage, and distribute shop blueprints to shop managers What We're Looking For Experience in mechanical drafting/design, ideally in oil & gas, pressure vessels, or industrial equipment Proficiency with 3D CAD modeling and P&ID drafting Working knowledge of (or willingness to quickly learn) relevant API specifications Strong written and verbal communication skills — this role involves frequent contact with customers, vendors, and internal teams High attention to detail and disciplined record-keeping Ability to multitask and reprioritize quickly in a fast-moving shop/design schedule Comfortable working independently and driving projects to resolution Available Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM-4:30 PM MST, with occasional additional hours or weekend work to meet deadlines Compensation & Benefits Salary depending upon experience and working knowledge of relevant equipment and details 50% of health insurance premium paid by AWC after a 90-day probationary period Company-provided 3D drafting computer with relevant software and a company cell phone

Pay:

$65,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
