Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented entry-level Telecom CAD Designer to join our growing Design and Engineering team. In this role, you will support the planning, design, and documentation of telecommunications tower installations and mobile network infrastructure for leading mobile network operators (MNOs). Working under the guidance of senior designers and project managers, you will gain hands-on experience in the full lifecycle of telecom site design—from initial site surveys and concept drawings through to final construction documentation packages. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional looking to build a career at the intersection of civil/structural engineering and the rapidly evolving telecommunications industry. Key Responsibilities CAD Design & Documentation Produce accurate 2D AutoCAD drawings for telecom tower installations, including monopoles, lattice towers, rooftop installations, and distributed antenna systems (DAS). Prepare site design packages including plan and elevation views, structural attachment details, equipment platform layouts, and grounding diagrams. Draft antenna mounting configurations, transmission line routing, equipment shelter layouts, and compound fencing plans. Revise and update existing CAD drawings based on redlines, engineering markups, and client feedback. Ensure all drawings meet applicable industry standards, client specifications, and jurisdictional requirements. Project Support Collaborate with project managers, structural engineers, and RF engineers to develop complete site design packages. Review site survey data, photographs, and existing documentation to inform design decisions. Assist in the preparation of permit application drawings and construction document sets. Maintain organized drawing files, version logs, and project documentation in accordance with company standards. Track and manage drawing revision history and respond promptly to internal and external drawing review comments. Quality & Compliance Perform self-checks on all drawing deliverables prior to submission for review. Adhere to company drafting standards, drawing templates, and file-naming conventions. Support compliance with FAA, FCC, local zoning, and building code requirements as directed by senior staff. Communication & Collaboration Participate in project kickoff meetings, design reviews, and coordination calls with clients and subcontractors. Communicate clearly with team members regarding design questions, schedule impacts, and deliverable status. Provide timely updates on task progress to project leads. Qualifications Required Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Drafting Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related technical field — OR equivalent vocational training and demonstrated proficiency. 0-2 years of professional CAD drafting experience; internship or co-op experience in a design or engineering environment is a plus. Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D drafting); ability to produce clean, well-organized drawings from sketches, field data, and verbal direction. Understanding of basic drafting principles including orthographic projection, dimensioning standards, and drawing symbology. Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering accurate, complete work products. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced project environment. Preferred Familiarity with telecommunications infrastructure, including tower types (monopole, self-supporting lattice, guyed), antenna systems, and coaxial/fiber transmission lines. Exposure to structural or civil engineering concepts (load paths, foundation types, grading) as applied to telecom site design. Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D or experience creating 3D models is a plus. Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC), TIA-222 standard for structural steel antenna towers, or local building codes is beneficial but not required. Experience with document management systems or project management platforms (e.g., Procore, SharePoint, or similar). OSHA 10 certification or willingness to obtain upon hire.
