  • Custom Fabrication is responsible for creating detailed, production-ready drawings and documentation for custom foodservice equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
This role requires an experienced drafter capable of working independently, making sound technical decisions, and supporting rapid concept-to-manufacturing execution. The position operates within a collaborative engineering team and plays a critical role in delivering accurate, high-quality outputs under aggressive timelines. Key Responsibilities Custom Drafting & Rapid Development Create complex, detailed drawings for custom fabricated foodservice equipment.
Support full development cycle:
Concept → Design → Review → Release → Manufacturing Support. Execute fast-turn drawing releases with high accuracy and minimal revisions. Interpret customer requirements, sketches, and layouts into manufacturable designs. Handle multiple projects simultaneously in a high-mix, quick-turn environment. Advanced Technical Executio n Develop complete drawing packages including assemblies, subassemblies, and detailed components. Ensure proper tolerances, fits, and fabrication details are clearly defined. Create and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs). Apply strong knowledge of sheet metal, welding, and fabrication processes. Troubleshoot and resolve design/drawing issues with minimal supervision. Collaborative Engineering Environment Work closely with a team of engineers and drafters on complex and time-sensitive projects. Participate in design reviews and contribute technical input. Support and guide less experienced team members when needed. Coordinate with Product Development, Sales, and Operations to ensure alignment. Manufacturing Support
  • Ensure drawings are fully shop-floor ready with clear, complete instructions.
  • Collaborate directly with fabrication teams (laser, forming, welding, assembly).
  • Quickly respond to production questions and implement necessary revisions.
  • Minimize rework through strong first-pass accuracy.
Qualifications Associate or Bachelor's degree in Drafting, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience). Extensive experience in drafting within a manufacturing or fabrication environment. Proven experience handling complex custom fabrication projects independently. Experience in foodservice equipment or similar industries strongly preferred. Technical Skills Advanced proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred). Strong expertise in sheet metal design and fabrication drawings. Knowledge of welding methods (MIG/TIG) and forming processes. Experience with ERP systems (Epicor preferred). Ability to produce accurate, production-ready documentation under tight timelines. Core Competencies High level of independence and ownership. Strong problem-solving and technical decision-making ability. Ability to work quickly without sacrificing accuracy. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Detail-oriented with strong focus on quality and execution.
