Job Description

About Us American Eagle Welding is a fast-growing fabrication and design studio that balances "down-home" values with big-picture ambition. With a tight-knit team of over a dozen experts, we pride ourselves on being a small shop capable of delivering high-end results. As we take our next steps toward growth, we are looking for a dedicated designer to help us maintain the highest standards of precision and craftsmanship. The Role We are seeking a detail-oriented Lead Designer to bridge the gap between conceptual site measurements and the finished product. You will be responsible for transforming hand drawings and field data into high-quality 3D models and comprehensive shop drawings. Your work will be the blueprint for our fabrication team, ensuring that every project is built accurately the first time.
Core Responsibilities Design & Modeling:
Develop precise 3D models and shop drawings in SolidWorks based on site measurements and hand-sketched concepts.
Packet Creation:
Generate detailed build packets for the shop floor and concise, easy-to-follow installation guides for our field teams.
Quality Control:
Conduct rigorous peer reviews of drafting drawings to identify and correct errors before production.
Material Management:
Create accurate Bills of Materials (BOM) to facilitate a seamless ordering process for the Project Manager and Shop Foreman.
Field Verification:
Travel to project sites to verify measurements and ensure designs align with real-world conditions.
Cross-Team Collaboration:
Maintain proactive communication with the Shop Foreman and Project Managers to minimize rework and meet strict deadlines.
Requirements Software Mastery:
Fluency in SolidWorks is essential.
Technical Knowledge:
A strong foundation in 3D modeling and mechanical design; while we provide industry-specific training, core design principles are required.
Detail-Oriented:
A "measure twice, cut once" mindset with a focus on accuracy and schedule adherence.
Adaptability:
A willingness to learn new technologies, including laser scanning systems, and a flexible approach to daily duties. Why Join Us? At American Eagle Welding, you aren't just a number; you're an integral part of a team building impressive, high-visibility projects. We offer a collaborative environment where your input matters and your growth is supported.
