Up to 25% Overview Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a CAD Designer, Senior to join our team supporting NSWCDD in Dahlgren, VA. This role develops mechanical design and technical engineering documentation for information systems supporting naval combat operations. The CAD Designer, Senior applies
ASME Y14
standards, SolidWorks, and system/component design tools to produce accurate design products for manufacturing, installation, maintenance, and repair. Responsibilities Analyze and design mechanical hardware and firmware. Create system-level and component-level technical engineering documentation. Maintain information systems, SolidWorks, and peripheral test equipment used in laboratory environments. Interpret and apply military and industry specifications related to information system development. Create and validate work instructions and assembly drawings in accordance with
ASME Y14
Series Standards. Develop design products for information system manufacturers. Use computer-aided design and state-of-the-art software for system and component design. Support shipboard installation, maintenance, and repair of information systems supporting naval combat operations. Coordinate design products with engineering, manufacturing, installation, laboratory, and Government stakeholders. Required Qualifications Eight (8) years of experience in analysis and mechanical design of hardware and firmware. Experience creating system-level and component-level technical engineering documentation. Experience maintaining information systems, SolidWorks, and peripheral test equipment used in a laboratory environment. Experience interpreting and applying military and industry specifications related to development of information systems. Experience creating and validating work instructions and assembly drawings in accordance with
ASME Y14
Series Standards. Experience using system design software, including Computer Aided Design and state-of-the-art software for system and component design. Experience supporting shipboard installation, maintenance, and repair of information systems supporting naval combat operations. Ability to obtain and maintain the DoD/Navy clearance required by the final
DD254/JPAS.
Desired Qualifications Experience supporting naval combat operations, shipboard installations, or laboratory test environments. Experience developing design documentation for manufacturers and installation teams. Experience with SolidWorks and
ASME Y14
drawing/documentation standards in Navy or DoD programs. Education Eight (8) years of experience in analysis and mechanical design of hardware and firmware.
