Job Description
CAD Design Product Specialist For over 70 years, Plyco Corporation has been a leading manufacturer and supplier of products to the post-frame, metal-clad building, and commercial construction industries. Based in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, Plyco is seeking a positive and professional CAD Design Product Specialist to join our team. This role combines CAD design, building product knowledge, technical problem-solving, and manufacturing support . The CAD Design Product Specialist will work with products including doors, trim, hardware, windows, fasteners, ventilation products, and other construction-related components , helping develop and improve products from design through production and field application. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in construction, building products, lumberyards, architectural products, CAD drafting, or product design who enjoys turning ideas and specifications into practical, manufacturable solutions. What You'll Do Use CAD systems to create, modify, and maintain product drawings and designs. Develop and improve products used in post-frame, metal-clad, and commercial construction. Work with doors, trim, hardware, windows, fasteners, ventilation products, and related building components. Review product designs for material and manufacturing costs and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and profitability. Perform design calculations and support product testing and certification requirements. Create and maintain bills of materials, instruction sheets, engineering change orders, and related product documentation. Support the implementation of new and revised products into production. Collaborate with manufacturing, sales, customer service, suppliers, and other departments to resolve design, quality, and production issues. Serve as a technical resource for customers, sales representatives, service personnel, and production staff. Review customer and project requirements and assist with quotes involving technical specifications, product requirements, and construction needs. Assist with troubleshooting product, installation, and field-related questions. Help continuously improve product designs, manufacturing processes, and production methods. Maintain product performance certification, quality assurance, and inspection documentation. Provide technical information and training to customer service, sales, production employees, and new hires. Assist with product demonstrations and presentations for customers, sales teams, and trade show attendees. Communicate project status, timelines, and design updates to management. What We're Looking For Experience with CAD design, drafting, construction products, building design, or product specifications . Experience working for a construction contractor, lumberyard, building products manufacturer, or similar environment is preferred. Knowledge of doors, windows, trim, hardware, fasteners, ventilation, or other construction products is strongly preferred. Experience with AutoCAD 3D or similar CAD software. Strong understanding of how products are designed, manufactured, and used in the field. Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and construction-related information. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong communication skills with the ability to work with customers, vendors, sales, production, and management. Strong troubleshooting skills. Proficiency with Excel, Word, and Microsoft Office. Manufacturing experience is helpful. Post-frame or pre-engineered building knowledge is preferred. Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and integrity. Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architectural Technology, Design, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience in construction, building products, lumberyards, CAD design, drafting, or product development will also be considered. Approximately 5 years of related construction, design, manufacturing, or building-product experience preferred. Why Plyco?
