Position Summary The CAD Technician is responsible for creating, modifying, and maintaining accurate 2D and 3D engineering drawings and models to support manufacturing operations. This role works closely with Engineering, Estimating, Production, Quality, and Customers to ensure designs are manufacturable, meet customer specifications, and comply with company standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and experienced in sheet metal fabrication and CAD software. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Create and revise 2D drawings and 3D models using SolidWorks. Convert customer drawings, sketches, and concepts into production-ready manufacturing prints. Prepare detailed fabrication drawings including dimensions, tolerances, weld symbols, bend information, and material specifications. Generate flat patterns and nesting files for laser cutting and fabrication equipment. Maintain engineering documentation and drawing revision control. Collaborate with Engineering and Production to resolve design and manufacturability issues. Review customer drawings for completeness and identify discrepancies prior to production. Support Estimating by providing drawing assistance and manufacturing information. Assist with Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and document revisions. Ensure drawings comply with industry standards, customer requirements, and company drafting practices. Organize and maintain electronic drawing files and engineering documentation. Assist with prototype development and first article builds as needed. Communicate with customers regarding drawing clarifications when required. Support continuous improvement initiatives related to design efficiency and manufacturing processes. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Associate degree or technical diploma in Drafting, CAD Technology, Mechanical Design, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred. 2+ years of CAD drafting experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. Experience with sheet metal fabrication preferred. Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints. Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) preferred. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities. Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines. Technical Skills Proficiency with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar 2D CAD software. Experience creating 3D models and detailed manufacturing drawings.

Understanding of fabrication processes including:

Laser Cutting Turret Punching Press Brake Forming Welding Powder Coating/Paint Assembly Familiarity with ERP systems (JobBOSS or similar) is a plus. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. Physical Requirements Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer. Occasionally walk through the manufacturing floor. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally. Ability to distinguish colors and fine details on drawings and computer screens. Work Environment Primarily office environment with regular interaction on the manufacturing floor.
