Purpose Provides technical expertise in process design, optimization, and troubleshooting for mining, mineral processing, and other related industrial projects. This role supports project execution by applying advanced engineering principles to deliver safe, efficient, and cost-effective solutions that meet client and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities Leadership and Direction Serve as a technical resource for junior engineers and project teams. Contribute to the development of best practices and standards within the metallurgical/chemical engineering discipline. At the Operational and Company Level Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design and evaluate metallurgical processes for the extraction of base and precious metals, along with a variety of other metals and minerals (i.e. Copper, Gold, Silver, Lead, Zinc, Molybdenum, Lithium, Rare Earths, Cement etc.) as well as common metallurgical processes. Perform process simulations, material and energy balances, and equipment sizing. Proficient in the design and development of process flow sheets and PIDs. Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards. Prepare technical reports, specifications, and deliverables for client review. Familiarity with feasibility study reports appropriate sections (NI-43-101). Support project planning, cost estimation, and scheduling activities. Ability to specify metallurgical test work programs in support of project development as well as ability to analyze resulting data to determine optimal process design and path forward. Provide strategic analysis and insight into project optimization including ideas around cost savings, operating cost reduction, plant efficiency etc. Do the Work Conduct detailed process calculations and modeling using industry-standard software (e.g., MetSim, SysCAD). Prepare and direct preparation of process models, project flow sheets, design criteria and equipment data sheets. Support development of piping and instrumentation diagrams (PIDs) in collaboration with discipline engineers. Analyze operational data to identify performance improvements and troubleshooting process issues. Assist in commissioning and start-up activities for new or modified systems. Provide technical input during hazard reviews (HAZOP, HAZID) and risk assessments. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in metallurgical or chemical engineering required; Master's preferred. Ten or more (10+) years of relevant experience in mining/mineral processing or consulting. Qualified Person (QP) or PE license preferred. Proficiency in process simulation software (MetSim or SysCAD), Microsoft Office Suite, and familiarity with applicable codes and standards (ASME, MSHA). Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Experience in development of feasibilities studies (NI-43-101 reports).
