Greater Boston Area Position Overview We are seeking a Semiconductor Process Engineer to support the development and manufacturing of advanced optoelectronic and semiconductor devices used in sensing, communications, imaging, and photonics applications. This individual will work closely with wafer fabrication, device engineering, and process development teams to optimize fabrication processes, improve yields, and support new product introduction efforts. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience with compound semiconductor processing and thrive in a fast-paced cleanroom manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Develop and optimize semiconductor fabrication processes and process flows for advanced optoelectronic devices. Support continuous improvement efforts for existing manufacturing processes to improve yield, reliability, and throughput. Collaborate with device and product engineering teams to support fabrication and optimization of new photonic and semiconductor devices. Develop and refine thin film deposition, wet etch, RIE, and DRIE processes used in device fabrication. Perform photolithography mask layout and CAD design activities. Support diffusion and thermal processing activities for compound semiconductor materials. Create, document, and maintain process run sheets, work instructions, and manufacturing procedures. Analyze process data, metrology results, and device performance metrics to identify process trends and opportunities for improvement. Monitor process variation and implement corrective actions to improve manufacturing consistency. Evaluate new product requirements against manufacturing capabilities to support yield and cost analysis. Support cleanroom operations and assist with maintaining compliance with industry and quality standards. Required Qualifications BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or related technical discipline. 4+ years of hands-on semiconductor fabrication experience, preferably within compound semiconductor or optoelectronic device manufacturing. Strong understanding of semiconductor process technology and semiconductor device physics. Experience working independently in a cleanroom fabrication environment. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Hands-on experience with critical cleanroom processing techniques and wafer handling. Comfortable working safely with semiconductor processing chemicals and cleanroom equipment. Familiarity with DOE, SPC, and process characterization methodologies. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to document technical procedures and process updates. Preferred Qualifications PhD in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or related field. Experience with photodetectors, laser diodes, or other optoelectronic device fabrication. Familiarity with semiconductor metrology, electro-optical testing, and device characterization techniques. Experience with data analysis tools and statistical process control methodologies. Strong understanding of process integration and semiconductor yield improvement strategies.
