Processing Supervisor Job Description The Processing Supervisor oversees a new manufacturing plant with multiple injection molding machines, managing the complete lifecycle of plastic parts from start-up through inspection. This role leads daily operations on the production floor, including process start-ups, troubleshooting, adjustments, and coordination of mold changes to ensure consistent quality and uptime. The supervisor plays a hands-on role in maintaining efficient injection molding processes and supporting a high-volume automotive manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Oversee the operation of injection molding machines in a new plant, ensuring consistent and efficient production of plastic parts. Manage the complete process of each part from start-up through inspection, maintaining quality and process stability. Perform all machine start-ups, including setting up process parameters and verifying that equipment operates within specifications. Read, interpret, and apply process sheets to set up and run injection molding equipment correctly. Perform mold changes and die changes as needed to support production schedules and product changeovers. Troubleshoot injection molding processes to resolve issues related to quality, cycle time, and equipment performance. Make process adjustments to maintain optimal machine performance and product quality. Conduct first-part inspections to verify that parts meet specifications before releasing the process to full production. Support and assist with mold changes, ensuring safe, efficient, and timely completion. Monitor production runs to identify potential issues early and implement corrective actions. Collaborate with maintenance and other production personnel to keep injection mold presses running reliably. Ensure adherence to safety procedures and production standards throughout all operations on the shift. Work a consistent third-shift schedule and support additional hours and weekend work when production demands require it. Essential Skills At least 3 years of hands-on injection mold processing experience. Proficiency in injection molding start-ups, including setting and verifying process parameters. Demonstrated experience performing mold changes and die changes on injection molding equipment. Strong process troubleshooting skills for injection molding operations. Ability to read and use process sheets to guide machine setup and operation. Experience with plastics processing in a manufacturing environment. Capability to conduct first-part inspections and verify conformance to specifications. Willingness and ability to work third shift (11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.) and support overtime and weekend work as needed. Commitment to working safely in a manufacturing setting, including proper use of required personal protective equipment. Additional Skills & Qualifications in plastics manufacturing or automotive-related production environments. Familiarity with operating and supporting multiple injection molding presses simultaneously. Experience working in facilities with stamping cells, hydraulic systems, and mechanical equipment. Comfort working in a high-volume, fast-paced manufacturing setting with frequent process adjustments. Interest in ongoing training and development to advance technical and leadership skills. Work Environment This role is based in a manufacturing facility that produces carpeted products for the automotive industry, including carpets with soundproof, weatherproof, and waterproof backing used in vehicle floorboards. The plant includes 1012 stamping cells with approximately six presses per cell, as well as multiple injection mold presses that must be kept running efficiently. The environment involves exposure to hydraulic and mechanical equipment and requires hands-on interaction with injection molding and stamping processes. The position follows a third-shift schedule from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., and employees must be comfortable working overtime and weekends when production demands increase. The dress code includes jeans or work pants, with work shirts provided, and requires steel-toe footwear and safety glasses to ensure a safe working environment on the production floor. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Port Huron, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $32.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
