Job Description

Piper Companies is seeking a Senior Process Engineer to join a leading organization within the biopharmaceutical manufacturing industry. This is an onsite, long-term contract opportunity with strong potential for extension and conversion to a full-time employee, based in Holly Springs, NC. The Senior Process Engineer will support upstream manufacturing operations within one of the world's largest end-to-end cell culture manufacturing facilities, providing technical expertise for process optimization, troubleshooting, and manufacturing support. Responsibilities of the
Senior Process Engineer:
Provide technical support for upstream manufacturing operations, including bioreactors, media preparation systems, buffer preparation systems, and hold tanks. Support active manufacturing campaigns by troubleshooting process, equipment, and automation-related issues. Drive process improvements and optimization initiatives to enhance manufacturing efficiency, reliability, and performance. Collaborate cross-functionally with Manufacturing, MSAT, Engineering, Automation, and Quality teams to resolve operational challenges. Analyze process data and support investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions within a GMP-regulated environment. Provide hands-on manufacturing floor support and technical guidance during production activities. Qualifications for the
Senior Process Engineer:
Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering preferred, or a related field in other Engineering disciplines, Biotechnology, and Life Sciences 6-10 years of experience in biotech manufacturing, Process Engineering, MSAT, or related manufacturing support roles. Strong knowledge of upstream bioprocessing and large-scale manufacturing operations. Hands-on experience supporting stainless steel bioprocess equipment in a production environment. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot manufacturing processes, equipment systems, and automation controls. Experience providing direct manufacturing floor support preferred over primarily CQV-focused experience. DeltaV experience is highly preferred. Background in process development or process sciences is a plus. Compensation for the
Senior Process Engineer:
$70-$85/hour based on experience.
