Job Description

Piper Companies is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support a major life sciences manufacturing startup project. The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for hands-on system startup, energization, and mechanical readiness activities in a highly collaborative, field-based environment. This is a 12-month+ contract requiring on-site work five days per week in Holly Springs, NC, and is open to candidates ranging from junior-level to highly experienced professionals. Responsibilities Execute startup and set-to-work activities to safely bring process and utility systems online following construction completion Perform system walkdowns using P&IDs to confirm installation accuracy and identify outstanding issues prior to commissioning Support energization efforts by applying lockout/tagout procedures, assisting with loop checks, and coordinating calibration readiness Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues such as leaks, valve positioning, and equipment adjustments to ensure operational readiness Partner with engineering, CQV leads, and field teams to document progress, track punch list items, and meet project timelines Qualifications Hands-on experience in industrial maintenance, mechanical work, or similar environments; experience level flexible from early career to senior level. Ability to interpret technical drawings, including piping and instrumentation diagrams, and conduct system walkdowns independently Familiarity with energized systems, utilities, or commissioning/startup processes is highly preferred Comfortable in a physically demanding role requiring tool usage and field-based work Pharmaceutical or regulated industry experience is a plus; formal degree is not required
Compensation Salary Range:
$35.00 - $50.00 per hour
