Job Title:
Process Engineer Job Description As a Process Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in executing a structured startup and stabilization approach for manufacturing equipment. Your responsibilities will include on-the-job training, process validation, troubleshooting, and performance optimization. You will accelerate line readiness and startup for newly installed or relocated equipment, and stabilize performance through troubleshooting and corrective actions. Your efforts will optimize throughput and quality through process improvements and the development of standard work. Responsibilities Support documentation and training for sustainable handoff to operations. Develop process parameter matrices and golden settings where applicable. Create top loss Pareto and weekly improvement action plans. Update SOP work instructions and process control documentation. Provide ramp plan reporting, including throughput vs target, constraints, and next actions. Maintain downtime logs with failure mode categorization. Document corrective action records and verification checks. Develop recommended spares lists and early-life failure prevention actions. Update troubleshooting guides and PM adjustments as approved. Essential Skills Continuous improvement Lean manufacturing Engineering Manufacturing process Develop/verify process settings and recipes for stable quality and throughput Create process characterization plans Support validation/qualification activities Perform structured problem solving (5-Why, fishbone, DOE-lite) Establish baseline performance metrics (cycle time, scrap, yield, OEE contributors) Additional Skills & Qualifications Process improvement Manufacturing engineering Process engineering Six sigma Work instruction Standardize operating conditions and document best-known methods Support line balancing and staffing recommendations during ramp-up Collaborate with maintenance, operations, and quality teams for sustained improvements Rapid response troubleshooting for mechanical/pneumatic/electrical faults Assist with changeovers, equipment alignment, and minor modifications Sensor and actuator diagnostics, basic controls interface support Support preventive maintenance catch-up and early-life failure correction Spares identification and critical parts list support Maintenance documentation updates Work Environment This role is based in the Oxford, NC facility and requires support across all three shifts. Candidates must be flexible to move to the second shift for a few months while the lines are being optimized. The position offers the opportunity to take ownership of a new line and provides career progression opportunities, including the potential to convert to a full-time position. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Oxford, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $42.00 - $48.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
