Job Description

Brayton Energy is seeking a hands-on Control Systems Engineer to design, develop, and maintain automated systems for complex electromechanical R&D projects for gas turbine engine systems. This role bridges the gap between physical hardware and digital software, ensuring that machinery and industrial processes operate safely, efficiently, and reliably. You'll collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and software engineers, as well as skilled technicians, to bring innovative concepts to life in both laboratory and field environments.
Core Responsibilities System Design:
Develop architecture and schematics for hardware and software control loops using PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), HMIs (Human-Machine Interfaces), sensors, and related components.
Modeling and Simulation:
Build mathematical and computer models (using tools like Python, MATLAB, or LabView) to predict system behavior under various conditions.
Testing and Verification:
Conduct rigorous tests, check signal loops, and run simulations to confirm that systems meet performance and safety standards.
Troubleshooting and Maintenance:
Diagnose errors, analyze performance data, resolve software bugs, and address physical anomalies in machinery.
Optimization:
Fine-tune control parameters (such as PID loops) to minimize waste, speed up production, and reduce energy use.
Documentation:
Develop and maintain wiring diagrams, bills of materials (BOMs), and test procedures using SolidWorks Electrical, Microsoft Office, and related software tools. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field. Minimum 5 years of experience in hands-on electrical product design, system integration, or industrial automation (preferably in an R&D environment). Proficiency with PLCs, VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives), control system programming, and LabView. Familiarity with ECAD tools (SolidWorks Electrical, EPLAN, or equivalent). Strong understanding of wiring standards, panel layout, and harness design. Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
