Full Job Description General Description :
Engineer is to collaborate & support, program managers, customers, sales management, product design, purchasing, accounting & APQP teams to: Responsibilities (or Duties): Review, provide feedback on new IM part projects. Help determine IM part design feasibility and manufacturability. Identify IM part design issues and support collaboration(s) to resolve IM design constraints. Identify equipment needed for new project/product; both existing assets and new capital equipment as needed to support new products opportunities. Identify and procure if approved, mold maintenance equipment and resources to support ongoing mold maintenance. Procures costs for new molds and secondary process such as texturing, graining, etc. Procure costs for mold repairs & engineering changes to existing molds & mold projects. Evaluates new mold designs. Collaborates with molds shops on auxiliary equipment such as Hot Runner systems, etc. Manage injection mold builds and mold repairs at supplier's location if required. Facilitates & oversees new injection molding product trials. Manages tooling manufacturing timelines and communicate progress and/or changes on tooling to project engineer and/or program manager Supports program managers & production management on new product launch. Provides engineering support for production injection molding activities Provides support to production process techs and mold set up technicians Tracks & records injection mold builds and major repairs Coordinates injection mold tooling delivery Collaborate with quality assurance teams to ensure plastic part quality Excellent communication skills and demonstrated problem solving ability. Excellent interpersonal skills in relating to both internal and external customers. Proactively identifies safety concerns related to mold tooling and related equipment Actively participate in continual improvement/innovation, corrective actions, and internal/external customer satisfaction for new and production tooling Lead tooling technical meetings and design reviews with tooling suppliers.
Required Qualifications:
Scientific Molding Education Training or Engineering Degree. 5-10 years in injection molding. 5-10 years in manufacturing environment. Previous experience with Toshiba, Arburg, Engel, robotic interfaces is required. Must possess good verbal and written communication skills. Candidate must be able to work independently to meet schedules. Candidate must have a technical background and be detail oriented.
Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, work instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measures, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
