Job Description
Driver (Transportation) Position Summary The Transportation Driver is responsible for safely transporting children, adolescents, and adults receiving behavioral health services at BF Empowerment Center. Drivers ensure client safety, dignity, confidentiality, and regulatory compliance during all transportation activities. This position is classified as safety-sensitive under USDOT and FMCSA regulations and must comply with all federal, state, Medicaid transportation oversight, ACA-informed confidentiality standards, and CARF Behavioral Health standards.

Day Treatment (MPAC - Making Powerful Adaptive Change ) CPST services Prevention and Psychoeducation programs Medical and behavioral health appointments Approved educational and community-based activities About BF Empowerment Center BF Empowerment Center provides mental health services to individuals, couples, and families that have been marginalized. Through evidence-based services, clients increase joy, strengthen relationships, reduce violence in homes, schools, and communities, and become empowered advocates for themselves and their families. Core Responsibilities Client Transportation & Safety- Safely transport clients to and from behavioral health services and approved activities.
- Follow assigned routes and approved schedules.
- Ensure timely pick-up and drop-off procedures.
- Conduct safe loading and unloading procedures.
- Ensure all passengers wear seat belts at all times.
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality consistent with HIPAA and ACA ethical standards.
- Immediately report behavioral or safety concerns to leadership.
- Other duties as assigned. Compliance & Inspection
- Perform and document daily pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections.
- Track mileage and maintain vehicle usage logs.
- Immediately remove unsafe vehicles from service and notify supervisors.
- Maintain a clean, professional, hazard-free vehicle environment.
- Prohibit unauthorized passengers.
- Maintain compliance with
USDOT, FMCSA
(49 CFR Parts 382, 383, 390-396), Ohio Revised Code, Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV), Medicaid transportation oversight requirements, CARF Behavioral Health Standards- Participate in DOT-compliant random drug and alcohol testing consortium.
- Submit required documentation in a timely manner.
- Complete annual Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) checks. Documentation & Reporting
- Complete and submit: o Mileage logs o Incident reports (within 24 hours) o Inspection documentation o Trip records aligned with service documentation standards
- Cooperate fully in post-accident procedures and required testing. Professional Conduct
- Obey all traffic laws and operate vehicles defensively.
- No mobile device use while driving except legally permitted hands-free systems.
- No smoking, vaping, alcohol, or intoxicants in vehicles.
- Maintain professional demeanor with clients and team members.
- Work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary behavioral health team.
Successful completion of:
BMV licensure check Bureau of Criminal Identification & Investigation (BCI) FBI background check Ohio T8 Driver Physical Pre-employment drug and alcohol screeningPreferred:
- 15+ passenger vehicle requirement -Class B CDL with: S (School Bus) endorsement P (Passenger) endorsement Physical Requirements Ability to sit for extended periods.
