Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Process Scale-Up Engineer to lead the transition of silicon based preceramic polymer to full-scale manufacturing. This pivotal role combines technical expertise with project management skills to optimize process design, ensure regulatory compliance, and facilitate seamless scale-up operations. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, driving innovation and efficiency across manufacturing projects. Duties Lead process scale-up activities by translating laboratory and pilot process data into scalable manufacturing protocols, ensuring robustness and reproducibility. Develop and review detailed process flow diagrams, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and process simulations using specialized software to optimize chemical engineering unit operations. Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including R&D, manufacturing, quality assurance and EHS. Lead the design of piping layouts, equipment arrangements, and process modifications to improve efficiency and safety. Conduct engineering data analysis to identify process bottlenecks, troubleshoot issues, and implement process engineering improvements for manufacturing scalability. Manage project schedules effectively by coordinating timelines, milestones, resource allocation, and risk mitigation strategies using project management best practices. Required Skills Extensive knowledge of chemistry, manufacturing, chemical process design, and industrial chemical manufacturing practices. Proficiency in process simulation software, CAD tools like AutoCAD or similar platforms for process layout design. Strong project scheduling capabilities with experience managing complex timelines in a regulated environment. Hands-on manufacturing and scale-up experience coupled with expertise in chemical engineering unit operations and process design principles. Data analytics skills with the ability to analyze large datasets for process improvement using engineering data analysis techniques. Practical experience with piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and process troubleshooting methodologies. Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles aimed at reducing waste while enhancing productivity in an industrial setting. Strong communication skills for effective cross-functional collaboration across teams such as R&D, quality assurance, operations, and regulatory compliance. Background in chemical or industrial engineering with a focus on chemical process engineering or related fields; experience practicing in an industrial or manufacturing environment is highly valued.
