Your impact We are seeking an Entry-Level Process Engineer to support drinking water supply projects including operation, optimization, and continuous improvement of a treatment pilot system demonstrating performance of a wide variety of treatment processes. This role is ideal for a recent engineering graduate or EIT with an interest in environmental engineering, public utilities, and water treatment. In the initial project assignment, the successful candidate will work closely with the pilot operations team and engineering leads to test a range of treatment approaches involving different processes and treatment strategies. This role will also support implementation of the findings of the treatment pilot for the full-scale design and project implementation. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in operations, maintenance, data analysis and reporting at a pilot drinking water treatment facility located in Coquitlam, BC, including chemical pretreatment, clarification, and filtration.
- Support implementation of the full-scale project in the office located in Burnaby, BC.
- Monitoring and optimizing of water treatment processes
- Collect, analyze, and interpret process data (flow rates, chemical dosing, water quality parameters, etc.)
- Support troubleshooting of process upsets and operational issues
- Assist with process calculations, mass balances, and performance evaluations
- Support development and updates of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and process documentation
- Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reliability, and sustainability
- Assist with commissioning, testing, and optimization of new or upgraded treatment equipment
- Support regulatory compliance activities related to environmental, health, and safety standards
- Collaborate with operators, maintenance staff, and senior engineers
- Prepare technical reports, data summaries, and presentations for internal stakeholders and regulators Here's what you'll need
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field
- Basic understanding of drinking water treatment processes
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data analysis skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic data analysis tools
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a team-oriented, operational environment
- Willingness to perform site-based work in a treatment plant setting
- Report to work at the pilot plant site located in Coquitlam (not accessible by transit). Other work site location will include Burnaby and potentially North Vancouver (also not accessible by transit). Preferred Qualifications
- Internship or co-op experience in water or wastewater treatment
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks (e.g., Canadian Drinking Water Quality Standards, environmental compliance requirements)
- Familiarity with data analysis and programming tools (eg, R-shiny, python, SQL, Power BI)

Minimum 59,500.00Posted Salary Range:
Upper 80,000.00 The base salary range for this position is $59,500.00 to $80,000.00. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across British Columbia, Canada locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
