What You'll Get to Do The Process Engineering Manager leads all process engineering activities across the aluminum extrusion manufacturing operation, driving continuous improvement in safety, quality, productivity, yield, energy efficiency & cost through process optimization, technology implementation & engineering excellence. This role provides technical leadership for extrusion, anodizing, fabrication, finishing & material flow, partnering closely with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Commercial & Product Engineering to achieve business objectives. The Process Engineering Manager also develops & leads a team of process engineers & technicians, establishing best practices, standardized processes & data-driven decision making throughout the facility.
Job responsibilities include:
Lead process engineering across billet preheating, extrusion, anodizing, fabrication & finishing, shaping how we make product every day. Optimize extrusion parameters (billet temp, ram speed, die temp, quench performance) to boost productivity & quality. Drive OEE, throughput, recovery & first-pass yield, using Lean & Six Sigma to knock down bottlenecks. Lead Kaizen events & continuous improvement projects that move the needle on safety, quality, delivery & cost. Partner with Product Engineering & Sales on new profiles, alloys & fabrication methods from concept to launch. Build, coach & grow a team of Process Engineers & Continuous Improvement Specialists. Champion MES, data acquisition & digital process monitoring to modernize how we track performance. Team up with Quality to cut scrap & warranty issues, leading root cause problem-solving (DMAIC, A3, 5 Why & more). Own annual productivity, cost & energy goals, shaping the engineering roadmap for the plant. Collaborate across Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Supply Chain & Commercial, and represent the process engineering voice with customers. Champion a strong safety culture, leading risk assessments & keeping us ahead of OSHA & environmental standards. What We Are Looking For We know great candidates come from all kinds of backgrounds. If you don't check every box below, we'd still love to hear from you. A degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Materials, Chemical or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience in its place. A track record in manufacturing engineering, ideally within aluminum extrusion or a similar metals/process environment. Comfort leading or mentoring a team, even if formal people-management experience is still growing. Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma & continuous improvement tools, and a genuine curiosity for making processes better. Working knowledge of die technology, SPC/DOE, process capability & industrial automation (don't worry, we'll fill any gaps together). Strong problem-solving instincts paired with a collaborative, can-do mindset. Clear communication skills & the drive to lead projects from idea to impact.
