Job Description

An opportunity to make a difference — and grow your career. We're looking for a Plastic Process Supervisor to take ownership of a 10-person plastics processing operation that includes mold setters and machine operators. This is a hands-on manufacturing leadership role for someone who understands that good production doesn't happen because people simply "keep the machines running." It happens when standards are clear, processes are stable, abnormalities are identified quickly, and the team takes ownership of solving problems. You don't have to be an expert in every aspect of plastics processing on day one. We're willing to develop the right person technically if you already know how to lead people, manage production, and solve manufacturing problems. The operation Our injection molding operation consists of eight Engel horizontal injection molding machines ranging from 450 to 1,000 tons, processing ASA, HIPS, PVC, and polypropylene. We also operate eight single-screw extrusion lines producing rigid and flexible PVC and ASA profiles. Depending on seasonal demand, approximately three to six extrusion lines may be operating at any given time. The Plastic Process Supervisor will primarily own the injection molding operation while providing leadership and technical support to the extrusion operation. What you'll own Your responsibility will extend well beyond supervising a shift. You'll be expected to establish and maintain a controlled production environment where: Daily standard work is followed. Production, quality, and process abnormalities are identified quickly. Problems are investigated and corrected rather than repeatedly worked around. Process parameters and setup standards are documented and maintained. Scrap and customer returns are reduced. Production schedules and service expectations are met. Efficiency, inventory accuracy, and changeover performance improve. Operators and setters receive the training and direction necessary to succeed. New products move from development into repeatable production. You'll work closely with Production, Quality, Engineering, and other functions to improve processes and solve problems. Technical responsibilities While this is a leadership position, technical credibility matters.
You will participate in:
New product and tooling reviews Mold and die trials Process development and optimization Establishing process parameters and setup sheets Process verification Troubleshooting molding and extrusion problems Scrap reduction Cycle-time and efficiency improvements SMED/changeover improvement Material and inventory variance reduction Developing stronger scientific molding practices Establishing repeatable process windows and standards Our molding operation isn't built around highly complex parts or exotic processes. We are looking for someone who can bring discipline, curiosity, and sound processing fundamentals to a relatively straightforward but important manufacturing environment. What we're looking for 5+ years of manufacturing experience 3+ years of plastics processing experience preferred Injection molding or plastic extrusion experience will be considered relevant Previous supervisory or manufacturing leadership experience Strong mechanical and process troubleshooting ability Comfortable working with production data and basic manufacturing metrics Working knowledge of Excel and ERP/MRP systems; Epicor experience is a plus Ability to learn the technical aspects of plastics processing that may not already be part of your background Ability to communicate effectively with operators, technicians, engineers, and management A practical, hands-on approach to manufacturing problems Injection molding experience is preferred but not required. A strong manufacturing supervisor with meaningful plastics experience in another process can succeed in this role, provided they are willing to develop their injection molding knowledge. How you'll be measured The role has three primary areas of accountability: Quality Scrap Customer returns Process stability Service Past-due orders Fill rate Production execution Cost Efficiency Inventory variance Changeover/SMED performance The person we're looking for We're not looking for someone who simply wants a title. We're looking for someone who wants to own an operation and improve it. You should be comfortable walking the floor, asking questions, getting involved in a problem, and holding people accountable to reasonable standards. You should be able to recognize when something is abnormal, determine what needs to happen next, and follow the problem through to resolution. If you're an experienced supervisor who has wanted to develop deeper plastics-processing expertise, this is an opportunity to do that. If you have strong plastics knowledge and want to develop into a manufacturing leader, we have a path for that as well. We will invest in developing the missing half of the skill set for the right person. Compensation & Schedule $70,000-$80,000 annually, depending on experience Salaried exempt First shift Opportunity to participate in an incentive program Fort Worth, Texas No routine travel No relocation assistance If you're ready to take ownership, improve a manufacturing operation, and grow into a larger leadership role, we'd like to hear from you.
