You're already the person people come to when the process isn't right. What's next? We're looking for an experienced plastics processing professional who is ready to take the next step into leadership. Maybe you've spent years setting up machines, troubleshooting processes, dialing in parameters, solving quality problems, and teaching less-experienced operators. Maybe you're the person everyone calls when something isn't running correctly. But you've never had the opportunity—or perhaps the desire—to become a supervisor. This could be that opportunity. We're willing to teach the leadership side to the right technical person. The opportunity You'll supervise a 10-person plastics operation consisting of mold setters and operators while remaining closely involved with the technical side of the process. Our injection molding operation includes eight Engel horizontal injection molding machines ranging from 450 to 1,000 tons, processing ASA, HIPS, PVC, and polypropylene. We also operate eight single-screw extrusion lines producing rigid and flexible PVC and ASA profiles, with three to six lines typically operating depending on seasonal demand. The primary responsibility is injection molding, but you'll also provide technical support and process leadership for extrusion. You don't need to know everything on day one. We are intentionally open to two different backgrounds. You may be an experienced plastics technician who knows how to run and troubleshoot a process but has never formally supervised people. Or you may have years of manufacturing leadership experience and some plastics knowledge but need to develop deeper processing expertise. Either path can work. What matters is that you bring real manufacturing experience, technical curiosity, personal accountability, and the desire to grow. Injection molding experience is valuable, but it isn't a prerequisite. Strong extrusion experience is equally relevant to us because the fundamentals of material behavior, temperature control, process stability, troubleshooting, and disciplined process development transfer across the two operations. What you'll learn and do As you develop into the role, you'll be expected to take increasing ownership of: Injection molding processes Plastic extrusion processes Mold and die trials New product launches Part and tooling design input Process development Scientific molding fundamentals Process verification Setup sheets and documented process parameters Process troubleshooting Scrap reduction Efficiency improvement Changeover/SMED improvement Inventory variance Operator and technician training Production standard work Daily performance management You will have the opportunity to work with the equipment and processes rather than becoming a supervisor who spends the entire day behind a desk. Leadership development is part of the job. If you're coming from a technical background, we'll help you make the transition from "I know how to fix it" to "I know how to build a team that can prevent it." That means learning how to: Set expectations Establish daily standard work Hold people accountable Delegate effectively Train and develop employees Identify abnormalities Lead problem solving Communicate production priorities Use data to manage performance Work with other departments to solve problems Build processes that don't depend on one person's knowledge You don't need to arrive as a finished supervisor. You do need to arrive ready to become one. How you'll be measured Your primary areas of accountability will be: Quality Scrap Customer returns Process stability Service Past-due orders Fill rate Production execution Cost Efficiency Inventory variance Changeover/SMED performance What we're looking for 5+ years of manufacturing experience 3+ years of plastics processing experience preferred Injection molding and extrusion experience both count Strong experience in at least one plastics processing discipline Demonstrated mechanical/process troubleshooting ability Experience setting up, operating, troubleshooting, or optimizing plastics processing equipment A genuine interest in learning the other side of the process Ability to work with production data and basic manufacturing metrics Excel and ERP/MRP experience; Epicor experience is a plus Clear communication and the ability to work effectively with production employees and management A desire to take ownership and develop as a leader Formal supervisory experience is not required for the right technical candidate. If you've been a lead technician, senior processor, setup specialist, or the person everyone turns to when a process goes sideways, we want to talk to you. What success looks like Six months into the job, we want to see someone who has taken ownership of the operation. The team knows what is expected. Daily standard work is being followed. Normal conditions are clearly understood. Abnormalities are identified quickly instead of becoming accepted as "just the way we do things." Problems are being resolved rather than repeatedly patched over.
And the numbers show it:
Quality. Service. Cost. That's the job. The person we're looking for We don't expect perfection. We do expect ownership. You should be the type of person who sees a problem and wants to understand why it happened—not the type who immediately looks for someone to blame. You should be comfortable learning something you don't know. You should be willing to teach what you do know. And you should want your career to be bigger five years from now than it is today. If you have strong plastics-processing experience and have been wondering whether you're ready to move into leadership, we'd like to talk with you. You bring the technical foundation. We'll help you build the leadership skills.
