#87881 Job Description Our DoD/Aerospace client is looking to fill an Advanced Materials & Process Engineer - Composites position that just opened in Marion, VA. In this role, you will support the development, qualification, and production of advanced composite materials and processes used in defense and intelligence systems. To be considered, you will have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related STEM field plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience (or a Master's degree with 3 years of experience). Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required within a reasonable period of time.

CLEARANCE
Department of Defense Secret security clearance required In this role you will use your technical and interpersonal skills to: Lead technical tasks and support engineering projects related to composite materials and processes Support production programs by conducting root cause investigations and recommending corrective actions Develop and execute qualification testing including test planning, execution, and reporting Support research and development (IRAD) activities and feasibility studies Apply materials engineering expertise to solve complex technical challenges Develop and implement manufacturing processes, documentation, and quality controls Participate in proposal efforts including technical writing and cost estimation Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet program objectives and timelines Identify risks and contribute to mitigation strategies
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM field required OR Master's degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree Strong background in composite materials and manufacturing processes Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications U.S. citizenship is required
Clearance Requirements:
Department of Defense Secret security clearance required within a reasonable period of time Applicants must be eligible to obtain and maintain access to classified information
Knowledge Skills And Abilities:
Experience with polymer matrix composite manufacturing processes including hand layup, autoclave cure, adhesive bonding, and resin transfer molding (RTM) Knowledge of polymer chemistry including epoxy, BMI, polyimide, and cyanate ester systems Experience processing prepreg materials and unidirectional tapes Experience developing process specifications and work instructions for composite fabrication Experience with composite materials testing and qualification (mechanical and thermal) Knowledge of chemical surface treatments such as plating, etching, and resist applications Experience implementing manufacturing processes, quality controls, and operator training Familiarity with coatings and related processes is a plus Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities Effective communication and collaboration skills within cross-functional teams About our client: Our client is a mission critical DoD - Aerospace defense contractor developing solutions that will lead, serve, and protect our country.
