Job Description Job Description Job Description Overview A rapidly growing multidisciplinary engineering and infrastructure firm is seeking an experienced Civil Engineering Principal to lead complex civil engineering projects while contributing to the continued growth of the business. This is a senior leadership opportunity combining project delivery, P&L ownership, business development, client management, and team leadership . The organization provides civil engineering alongside surveying, geotechnical, materials testing, environmental, and EHS services, giving the successful candidate access to a broad range of projects and technical disciplines. The role is ideal for an established civil engineering leader who wants meaningful influence over both project execution and business growth within an expanding organization. The Role The Civil Engineering Principal will oversee complex civil engineering projects from conception through completion, ensuring projects are delivered within scope, schedule, budget, and quality expectations . Beyond project delivery, this position will hold responsibility for project financial performance and P&L management , while identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, strengthening existing client relationships, and expanding the firm's presence within the civil engineering market. The Principal will also provide leadership and mentorship to project teams, helping develop junior staff and build a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Responsibilities Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of complex civil engineering projects from conception through completion. Develop and manage project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource requirements while monitoring overall performance. Own project P&L, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and profitability , identifying opportunities to improve cost efficiency. Coordinate internal teams, subcontractors, and vendors while proactively identifying and mitigating project risks. Identify and pursue new business opportunities, leveraging existing relationships and developing strategies to expand market presence. Lead and participate in client meetings, presentations, proposal development, and project pursuits. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, government agencies, and other key industry stakeholders. Provide leadership and direction to project teams while mentoring junior project management and engineering professionals. Collaborate with finance and accounting teams to ensure accurate project financial reporting and compliance. Promote continuous improvement, professional development, and accountability across project teams. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field . Arizona Professional Engineer (PE) license required. Minimum 10 years of civil engineering project management experience . Proven track record successfully delivering complex civil engineering projects on time and within budget. Strong experience managing project budgets, P&L statements, forecasting, and financial performance metrics . Demonstrated client relationship management and business development capabilities. Strong leadership experience with the ability to develop and mentor project teams. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary and cross-functional teams. Nice to Have Advanced degree or additional professional certifications. Experience working within a multidisciplinary engineering or infrastructure consulting environment. Established relationships within the Arizona civil engineering market.
