ALK Asphalt is seeking a Project Engineer to support our Senior Project Manager in coordinating asphalt construction projects from preconstruction handoff through closeout. This position offers hands-on experience and a path toward a Project Manager role through demonstrated performance and increasing responsibility. Responsibilities

• Review project plans, specifications, scope, and contract requirements.
• Participate in project handoffs and preconstruction site visits.
• Coordinate project setup in HeavyJob and Sage and maintain organized project files.
• Support scheduling and coordinate updates with field operations.
• Coordinate material orders, subcontractors, and suppliers under the Senior PM's direction.
• Track project progress, production, costs, and quantities against budgets and flag issues for review.
• Prepare change-order documentation and track submissions and status.
• Prepare project reports and participate in weekly and monthly project meetings.
• Support timecard review, customer invoicing, and AIA pay applications.
• Coordinate certificates of insurance, pre-lien information, and waiver documentation.
• Track quality issues, corrective work, and project closeout requirements.
• Communicate with field teams and project stakeholders to keep work organized and moving forward. The Senior Project Manager provides direction and retains overall project accountability and final approvals. Qualifications
• Strong organization, communication, and follow-through.
• Ability to work with quantities, budgets, schedules, and project documentation
• Willingness to visit project sites, learn, and take on increasing responsibility
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
• Familiarity with HeavyJob or Sage is a plus.
• Asphalt, paving, or heavy civil construction experience is preferred.
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet company vehicle requirements
• Relevant construction experience or education in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field
• Ability to read construction plans and specifications. What We Offer
• Annual salary of $65,000
• 85,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
• Take-home company truck.
• Direct mentorship from the Senior Project Manager.
