Job Description
Building Engineer Keep a Cutting-Edge Biopharma Facility Running at Its Best We're looking for an experienced Building Engineer to serve as the primary facilities expert for our growing biopharma site. In this hands-on role, you'll be responsible for maintaining critical building systems, ensuring a safe and efficient work environment, and partnering with vendors and internal teams to keep operations running smoothly. If you have a strong background in HVAC, facilities maintenance, electrical systems, and vendor management , and enjoy solving problems in a fast-paced environment, we'd love to hear from you. What You'll Do Facility & Systems Maintenance Inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems Conduct routine facility checks to ensure safe and reliable operation Address building, safety, and security concerns as they arise Perform light repairs including drywall, flooring, painting, and minor plumbing work Vendor & Project Coordination Coordinate and oversee third-party vendors and contractors Ensure maintenance work is completed safely, on time, and to quality standards Evaluate new products, tools, and maintenance solutions that improve facility performance Operations Support Respond to maintenance requests from facility staff and prioritize work orders Maintain organized records of inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance activities Manage inventory levels for maintenance and cleaning supplies Support day-to-day facility operations with a proactive, customer-service mindset What We're Looking For Required Qualifications ✅ 10+ years of hands-on HVAC and facilities maintenance experience ✅ Strong knowledge of: HVAC systems Plumbing Electrical systems General building maintenance ✅ Experience managing and coordinating external vendors and contractors ✅ Ability to troubleshoot building-related issues independently and efficiently ✅ Comfortable using computers, spreadsheets, and inventory or maintenance tracking systems ✅ Excellent communication, organization, and time-management skills Nice to Have Experience supporting laboratory, pharmaceutical, biotech, or technical environments Experience serving as the primary facilities contact for a site or building Construction, carpentry, painting, or general maintenance repair experience A proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues before they impact operations Why Join Us? Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Redwood City, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
