This role works closely with the Project Manager, field teams, engineering, detailing, vendors, and subcontractors to help keep projects organized, documented, and moving according to schedule. The position is designed as a development role with increasing responsibility based on experience and performance. As the Project Engineer masters core project management responsibilities, there is a clear path into an Assistant Project Manager position. Key Responsibilities Build and maintain product submittal packages based on project specifications Coordinate with engineering and detailing teams on shop drawings, as-builts, O&M manuals, commissioning reports, RFIs, and change orders Request and compare pricing for fixtures, equipment, and major material purchases Solicit subcontractor and consultant quotes and support vendor selection with the Project Manager Prepare subcontractor agreements for Project Manager review and approval Conduct routine site visits to verify installation against approved drawings and specifications Track installed, tested, and completed work in the field Attend preconstruction startup meetings Participate in QA/QC, startup, and commissioning meetings Maintain RFIs, change estimates, transmittals, and project logs Process change orders and maintain accurate project records Communicate potential delays, cost overruns, safety concerns, or design issues to project leadership Support other project team members as needed to keep projects moving successfully Qualifications 0-5 years of experience in mechanical construction or related trades Experience with HVAC, plumbing, or mechanical systems preferred Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management preferred Strong organizational and communication skills Ability to manage changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment Comfortable working both in the office and on active construction sites Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications Interest in developing long-term project management skills within mechanical construction Skills You'll Develop HVAC and plumbing design fundamentals Estimating and change-order pricing Construction scheduling Purchasing and procurement Project financials, projections, and cash flow QA/QC and commissioning coordination Subcontractor and vendor management Field installation and construction sequencing Software Experience Experience with the following is helpful but not required: Microsoft Excel and Word Microsoft Project Bluebeam Procore BIM 360 Raken Viewpoint Textura
